Hyderabad Jan 31 PTI The Commission of Inquiry appointed by the Supreme Court to inquire into the alleged encounter killing of the four accused in the gang rape and murder case of a woman veterinarian in Hyderabad has submitted its report to the apex court The three-member Commission headed by former SC judge V S Sirpurkar and including former Judge of Bombay High Court Justice RP Sondur Baldota and former CBI Director D R Kaarthikeyan submitted its report on January 28 an official release said here on Monday The panel was appointed on December 12 2019 to inquire into the circumstances in which the four persons -- Mohammed Arif Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu Jollu Shiva and Jollu Naveen -- who were the accused in the case were killed in Hyderabad on December 6 2019 while in the custody of the police The Commission of Inquiry collected various documentary records including investigation records forensic reports post-mortem reports photographs and videos concerning the scene of incident and others the release said The Commission held hearings for 47 days between August 21 2021 and November 15 2021 The Commission examined 57 witnesses during this period and recorded their evidence The hearings were held publicly subject to COVID-19 restrictions The Advocates for the state of Telangana the police officials involved in the incident and other interested parties participated in the hearings The Commission heard oral arguments from all the Advocates from November 16 2021 to November 26 2021 The panel inspected the various places associated with the incident on December 5 2021 After completing the inquiry the Commission submitted its report before the Supreme Court on January 28 2022 The woman veterinarian was kidnapped sexually assaulted and later found murdered in November 2019 police had said PTI SJR BN BN

Hyderabad Dec 20 PTI Result of 15 samples is awaited for Omicron in Telangana the state health department said on Monday Till date 20 cases of the new coronavirus variant have been reported in the state Meanwhile Telangana today recorded 156 new COVID-19 cases pushing the tally to 679720 No death was reported due to the infectious disease on Monday The death toll stood at 4015 The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation GHMC accounted for the most number of cases with 53 followed by Medchal Malkajgiri 22 and Ranga Reddy 14 districts a state government bulletin said providing details as of 530 PM today The number of recoveries outnumbered fresh cases with 207 people recovering from the infectious disease The cumulative number of recoveries till date was 672063 The number of active cases was 3642 the bulletin said It said 33140 samples were tested and the total number of samples tested till date was 29318416 The samples tested per million population were 787705 PTI SJR BN BN
Hyderabad Dec 18 PTI The Telangana government would not set up paddy procurement centres during the summer crop season in view of the Centre making it clear that it would not procure paddy during the summer season Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said on Saturday Though the decision was painful it became inevitable in view of the Centres adamant attitude an official release quoted him as saying in a meeting with district Collectors Rao directed the Collectors to prepare the farmers for crops other than paddy during the summer crop season He said the financial assistance to farmers under the state governments Rythu Bandhu investment support scheme would be deposited in eligible farmers accounts from December 28 The CMs meeting with Collectors also discussed the Omicron scare and the state governments Dalit empowerment scheme Dalit Bandhu among others Raos comments against the NDA government at the Centre came in the backdrop of an ongoing war of words between the ruling TRS and BJP over paddy procurement and the TRS government attacking the Centre over the issue Stepping up its attack on BJP and NDA government over paddy procurement the TRS on Friday said it would hold protests against the Centres alleged anti-farmer policies on December 20 State BJP leaders meanwhile have said there is no issue over paddy procurement and that the Centre would purchase paddy as per the agreement between the state government and Central agencies PTI SJR BN BN

Hyderabad Dec 17 PTI A man died after allegedly being beaten up by some hotel staff members here who suspected his intentions when he went into the hotels cellar after midnight police said on Friday The man a labourer from Odisha entered the cellar on December 15 when some staff members were celebrating the birthday of a colleague there they said They allegedly questioned him and beat him up Those working at the hotel found his fathers who lives in Odisha mobile number in his pocket and told him about the incident on Thursday morning The father informed his daughter-in-law and she took her husband home She did not take him to hospital as there were no major visible injuries The man however died at home She then informed police about the incident A case of murder was registered and investigation was in progress police said It was not immediately clear as to why the man entered the hotel cellar after midnight they added PTI SJR BN BN
