New Delhi Jan 19 PTI The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has extended till January 31 the deadline for availing the amnesty scheme for the payment of property tax with 100 per cent waiver of both interest and penalty officials said on WednesdaySouth Delhi Mayor Mukesh Suryansaidthe modifications in property tax amnesty scheme-2021-22 has been made to facilitate taxpayers as they are facing difficulties due to current restrictions and weekend lockdown imposed due to the surge in COVID-19 cases He said in order to provide relief to taxpayers the corporation has extended the last date for availing the amnesty scheme and taxpayers can avail waiver of 100 per cent interest and 100 per cent penalty if up-to-date payment of outstanding property tax dues is made by January 31 2022 With the modification waiver of 90 per cent of interest and 100 per cent of penalty can be availed by making payment of outstanding property tax dues till February 28 and waiver of 80 per cent of interest and 100 percent of penalty can be availed if payment of outstanding property tax dues is made till March 31 the SDMC said in a statementThe mayor said citizens were not able to avail benefits of Property Tax Amnesty Scheme-2021-22 because of weekend lockdown amid increase in number of Covid cases and hence the dates have been extendedThose taxpayers who were unable to make payment of property tax due to the financial crisis will get relief he said adding the move will also help in increasing the number of taxpayers He also appealed to citizens to make payment of property tax on time and avail the benefits of the waiver scheme PTI KND TIR TIR
New Delhi Dec 27 PTI The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has started a initiative Vikalp to discourage usage of single-use plastic bags in its south zone an official statement said Under the initiative shoppers who do not bring cloth bags can take a cloth bag by depositing Rs 20 at Vikalp stalls in markets A customer can return the bag at the Vikalp stall after using it and get refund of the money There is no time limit to return these bags and a person can return the bag at any of Vikalp stall the statement saidIn view of the Swachh Survekshan-2022 Vikalp stalls are being set up in various markets under jurisdiction of the civic bodyDeputy Commissioner South Zone Ankita Chakravarty said 22 such stalls have been set up in 14 markets such as those is Green Park Yusuf Sarai Hauz Khas SDA Saket Arbindo Market Greater Kailash and Chitranjan Park Market among othersChakravarty said that stickers of Vikalp stalls in markets are being pasted at shops so that customers can know their location The official appealed to shopkeepers to make people aware about single-use plastic and its ill effects With the facility of cloth bags in a market people will develop the habit of using cloth bags instead of plastic ones People will be made aware about the move through Nukkad Nataks street plays and other awareness campaigns Chakravarty said in the statement PTI AKM ANB ANB
New Delhi Dec 24 PTI South Delhi Municipal Corporation on Friday inaugurated a Nigam Haat in the city with an aim to promote reduction and recycling of waste at source officials said The Nigam Haat has been set up in Lajpat Nagars Central Market they said In order to ensure reduction and recycling of waste at source thr SDMC has taken a unique initiative of Nigam Haat The move is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modis vision of reducing the load on landfill sites the civic body said in a statement SDMCs Central Zone in collaboration with a private player has set up this haat based on principles of 3 Rs -- Reduce Reuse Recycle of waste Officials said the SDMC is determined to improve its ranking in Swachh Survekshan 2022 and is also committed to provide better civic services to citizens Such haat will also be established in other zones of the SDMC they said Deputy Commissioner of Central Zone Radha Krishan said the Nigam Haat will be operational from 11 AM to 4 PM for citizens to participate in various activities watch demonstrations of home composting kit and also buy recycled products made out of waste Krishan said that the centres of attraction at Nigam Haat are reuse of tyres which were lying unattended a tree made from waste of dumped vehicles and conversion of an abandoned jeep into a selfie point Meanwhile South Delhi Mayor Mukesh Suryan on Friday said he SDMC has taking stern action against allegedly illegal liquor shops and sealed four liquor shops in Najafgarh Zone Besides four other shopkeepers vacated their liquor shops themselves he was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the SDMC He said that the shops were sealed for violations in MPD 2021 and norms related to illegal construction and irregularities PTI KND SRY

New Delhi Sep 22 PTI The South Delhi Municipal Corporation under its ease of doing business initiative has launched a portal to provide permission for film shooting at different locations in its area the civic body said in a statement The municipal corporation has developed a portal for smooth facilitation of the entire process of granting approval and applicants will have to apply through the SDMCs official website it said The statement said that after submitting relevant documents and paying the permission fee approval of film shooting will be given by the directorate of press and information PI in a period of three days Under ease of doing business a single-window policy for online approval of film shooting is also being developed for various agencies of Delhi and the Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation DTTDC has been appointed the nodal agency it said The SDMC in July had formulated a policy for allowing shooting films under its jurisdiction Under the policy filmmakers will have to seek permission for shooting and will also have to pay a fee of Rs 75000 for shooting in parks heritage buildings office complexes malls or markets falling under the SDMCs jurisdiction officials said They will also have to deposit a security amount of Rs 25000 Prior to this there was no policy of the SDMC regarding film shooting However the New Delhi Municipal Council charges a fee from filmmakers for shooting in its area SDMC Additional Commissioner A A Tazir Additional Commissioner SDMC and Director PI SDMC Sanjay Sahai on Wednesday convened a meeting with film and line producers and shared details related to the newly drafted policy The officials also sought suggestions and feedback from the producers who attended the meeting They said that the policy that will boost the revenues of cash-strapped civic body PTI AKM ANB ANB
New Delhi Aug 25 PTI The South Delhi Municipal Corporation on Wednesday decided not to disconnect water and electricity connections to residents of unauthorised colonies in the city a move that comes ahead of the next years civic polls The civic body also directed officials to take back previous orders of disconnecting water and electricity connections in such colonies A proposal in this connection was approved in the House meeting of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation SDMC on Wednesday Other proposals such as construction of multilevel parking lots at Punjabi Bagh crematorium and Greater Kailash-2 and purchase of electric road sweeping machines were also passed in the meeting There are around 1800 unauthorised colonies in the national capital where a sizeable portion of the citys population resides The municipal bodies usually write to the Delhi Jal Board and electricity department of the city government for cutting connections of water and electricity in unauthorised colonies as any construction in such areas is considered illegal The proposal which was tabled by Leader of the House Indrajeet Sehrawat stated that since the municipal corporation did not pass building layout plans in unauthorised colonies all construction in such colonies was done without a valid building plan Water and electricity are basic necessities of any citizen The House meeting of the SDMC proposes and requests the commissioner not to issue orders of disconnecting water and electricity connections in such colonies the proposal read It also said the previous orders of disconnecting water and electricity connections in unauthorised colonies should be withdrawn Sehrawat said the decision will benefit thousands of people living in unauthorised colonies He said it is very hard to get water or electricity connection after it gets disconnected once This is a public welfare decision aimed at benefiting the general public We used to get complaints from residents of unauthorised colonies that their electricity and water connections were snapped because of being in illegal colonies Now we are trying to change this so that they do not face such inconveniences Sehrawat said He said the proposal will now be sent to the Centre via the Lieutenant Governors office for final approval The work of regularisation of 1731 unauthorised colonies under PM-UDAY Yojana is also underway he added Meanwhile the civic body also approved proposals to construct multilevel parking lots at Punjabi Bagh crematorium and at Greater Kailash-2 to cumulatively accommodate 450 cars The capacity of automated multilevel parking at Punjabi Bagh crematorium will be of 225 cars while the one at GK-II will be able to accommodate 232 cars at a time The civic body also approved procurement of electric road sweeping machines worth Rs 14 crore Under the project four electric road sweeping machines will be purchased Officials said the move is aimed at reducing pollution and cut the cost on fuel as compared to the diesel-run mechanical sweeping machines which are presently being used PTI AKM CK
