Pune Apr 21 PTI A 65-year-old man was allegedly killed by a fellow inmate at a de-addiction centre in Maharashtras Pune in the early hours of Thursday police said The accused Sanket Alhat 24 was upset because no one from his family had come to meet him on his birthday and the victim Mohan Rathi used to abuse him an official said The victim and the accused were roommates Alhat was upset and stressed as no one from his family had come to meet him on his birthday on April 16 Rathi also used to abuse him assistant police inspector Prashant Kanase of Sinhgad Road police said The accused stabbed Rathi in the neck with a piece of glass around 330 am following which the latter was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival he said Alhat was caught by the staff at the centre and police were informed the official added PTI SPK ARU ARU
Pune Oct 22 PTI Two men were killed and two others injured in a shootout between rival gangs in Uruli Kanchan area of Maharashtras Pune district on Friday police said According to the police the incident took place at Uruli Kanchan Chowk around 230 pm when one of the deceased men identified as Santosh Jagtap was coming out of a restaurant with two of his aides Four people opened fire at Jagtap One of his aides who was armed fired in retaliation shooting a person from the rival gang said Namrata Patil deputy commissioner of police Zone V Members of the rival gang took one of the injured men to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead and Jagtap was also declared brought dead the official said Two of Jagtaps aides who were injured in the firing are undergoing treatment she added According to the police the shootout was a result of some old enmity between the two gangs Jagtap a criminal on record was an accused in a murder that took place in Rahu village in Daund tehsil PTI SPK ARU ARU
Pune Sep 21 PTI A passenger was caught by the Central Industrial Security Force CISF personnel with 11 bullets in his baggage at the Pune airport in Maharashtra on Tuesday police said The passenger who was travelling from Pune to Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh owned a licensed pistol which he left at home but had mistakenly taken the bullets along in his bag an official from the Airport police station said The passenger runs a security agency in Bhosari and was travelling to Prayagraj He has a valid arms licence and had mistakenly carried the bullets in the bag the senior official said While scanning the bags CISF personnel found 11 bullets the passengers bag and handed him over to the police he said adding that the police allowed the man to leave after giving him a notice PTI SPK ARU ARU
