ADGP reviews security situation in border districts of Jammu

Jammu Feb 19 PTI Additional Director General of Police Jammu Zone Mukesh Singh on Saturday reviewed the security situation in the border districts of Kathua and Samba a police spokesman said The officer also reviewed arrangements pertaining to the sealing of borders during the Assembly polls in neighbouring Punjab Singh visited Kathua and Samba and chaired separate meetings to review the law and order situation crime position and overall functioning in the two districts with all supervisory officers including the senior superintendents of police station house officers and investigating officers the spokesman said He said the disposal of cases registered during the current year and previous pendency was reviewed discussed and instructions issued The Jammu ADGP also reviewed the highway and border security arrangements of the two districts the spokesman said Singh impressed upon the officers to strengthen the intelligence grid and ensure input sharing for speedy action by the forces The ADGP also directed the officials to conduct meetings with people in the border villages on a regular basis as he underscored the local populations cooperation in the fight against narco-terrorism PTI TAS CJ CJ

Jammu Jan 30 PTI Accusing the BJP-led government of deliberately delaying Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir the National Panthers Party NPP on Sunday said it is contemplating filing a petition in the Supreme Court for early restoration of a democratically-elected government in the union territory NPP chairman and former minister Harsh Dev Singh said an inordinate delay in the restoration of a democratic government in Jammu and Kashmir was not only unconstitutional but it also amounted to contempt of the highest court of the county Referring to the judgments of the Supreme Court that mandated timely conduct of Assembly elections Singh accused the central government and the Election Commission of India of defying the apex courts orders for vested interests The Supreme Court in its September 2018 judgment had ruled that the process of conducting Assembly elections in states where the premature dissolution of the Lower House took place needed to be completed within a period of six months from the date of dissolution of the House he said Even in its recent judgment announced last week pertaining to the state of Maharashtra the Supreme Court reiterated that there is a statutory obligation to fill Assembly seats within six months so as to ensure that the people are not deprived of due representation Singh pointed out He said as the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was dissolved on November 21 2018 elections to the state Assembly ought to have been completed before May 21 2019 However they were not conducted for political and personal expediencies of helmsman at the centre and state This amounted to violation of the orders of the Supreme Court for which the JKNPP would file a petition against the authorities concerned in the apex court of the country the NPP leader stated Singh said the contempt petition shall also be filed for unreasonably and unjustifiably failing to hold elections in conformity with the rulings of the apex court PTI TAS CJ CJ

Jammu Jan 18 PTI Jammu and Kashmirs health department has launched a special drive to identify people who have inadvertently received vaccination certificates without being fully inoculated against COVID-19 a government spokesman said on Tuesday Authorities have been gathering inputs from such individuals and ensuring that they are fully vaccinated at the earliest the spokesman said He said the department has strictly instructed its staff to avoid such mistakes During COVID-19 vaccination campaign such isolated incidents of unintentional wrong entries have happened because of the sudden increase in data upload into the CoWIN portal he said adding such cases constitute amicroscopic minority perhaps in single digits Jammu and Kashmir has administered around two crore doses so far In a recent incident the spokesman said it was noticed that two beneficiaries aged 51 and 49 from Sogam block of Kupwara district were inadvertently marked as vaccinated with their second dose on September 11 2021 while they had received a single dose Upon identification of the cases immediate arrangements to administer the second dose at the beneficiaries homes were made he said PTI TAS CJ CJ

J-K LG reviews restoration works of heritage Mubarak Mandi Complex

Jammu Jan 18 PTI Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday reviewed the restoration and renovation works of the iconic Mubarak Mandi Complex here an official spokesman said He directed the officials concerned to expedite the works for early completion of the project taken up to restore the heritage palaces of Dogra rulers in northern Jammu MubarakMandi overlooking River Tawi was the main seat of power till 1925 after which the last Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh moved to Hari Niwas Palace less than 10 km away Few years ago the Jammu and Kashmir government had prepared a detailed project report according to which the restoration works would cost Rs 53 crore This amount was later revised to Rs 150 crore and it further escalated to Rs 25392 crore in June 2008 The spokesman said the Lieutenant Governor who is also the chairman of the Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society undertook a comprehensive review of various works under execution in view of transforming the Mubarak Mandi Complex as a major tourist attraction Sinha was briefed about the amount of works completed at different buildings of the complex the financial progress achieved under various schemes and measures to improve connectivity and access to the complex the spokesman said PTI TAS CJ CJ
