New Delhi Mar 30 PTI The Union Cabinet on Wednesday hiked Dearness Allowance DA and Dearness Relief DR by 3 per cent to 34 per cent to compensate for the price rise benefitting over 116 crore central government employees and pensionersThe additional instalment will be effective from January 1 2022 said an official release after the Cabinet meetingThe Union Cabinethas given its approval to release an additional instalment of DA to central government employees and DR to pensioners wef January 1 2022 representing an increase of 3 per cent over the existing rate of 31 per cent of the Basic PayPension to compensate for price rise an official statement saidThe increase is in accordance with the accepted formula which is based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission it addedThe combined impact on the exchequer on account of both Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief will be Rs 954450 crore per annumThis will benefit about 4768 lakh central government employees and 6862 lakh pensioners the release saidIn October last year the Cabinet had hiked the two allowances by 3 per cent to 31 per cent It was effective from July 1 2021Before that in July the government had restored the dearness allowance and dearness relief and increased the rate of allowance from 17 per cent to 28 per centBecause of the COVID-19 pandemic the central government had frozen the three additional instalments of the DA and DR which were due on January 1 2020 July 1 2020 and January 1 2021 PTI NKD MJH BAL

New Delhi Mar 22 PTI The Union Cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod to a bill to merge the three municipal corporations in Delhi sources in the government saidThe Delhi Municipal Corporation Amendment Bill is likely to be introduced in the ongoing Budget session of Parliament they said The unified municipal corporation the sources said will be a well-equipped entity for optimum and even utilisation of financial resources which will reduce mounting liabilities expenditure on the functioning of the three municipal corporations and improve the civic services of the national capitalSome more amendments have also been cleared in the principal Act of 1957 to ensure more robust delivery architecture for greater transparency improved governance and more efficient delivery of civic services for the people of Delhi they said The amendment provides for a unified municipal corporation of Delhi by subsuming the existing three corporationsThe erstwhile Delhi Municipal Corporation was trifurcated into three municipal corporations - South Delhi Municipal Corporation SDMC North Delhi Municipal Corporation NDMC and East Delhi Municipal Corporation EDMC in 2011 The trifurcation of the corporation was uneven in terms of the territorial divisions and revenue generating potential of each corporation As a result there was a huge gap in the resources available to the three corporations vis-a-vis their obligations the sources pointed out The gap widened over a period of time increasing the financial difficulties of the three municipal corporations leaving them incapacitated to make timely payment of salaries and retirement benefits to their employees creating serious impediments in maintaining civic services in Delhi the sources said PTI NAB ZMN

New Delhi Oct 21 PTI The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved PM GatiShakti National Master Plan including implementation monitoring and support mechanism for providing multi-modal connectivityPrime Minister Narendra Modi on October 13 had launched a Rs 100 lakh crore national master plan for multi-modal connectivity to develop infrastructure to reduce logistic costs and boost the economyIt targets to cut logistic costs increase cargo handling capacity and reduce the turnaround timeThe Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs CCEA has approved the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan including the institutional framework for rolling out implementation monitoring and support mechanism for providing multi-modal connectivity an official statement saidAn Empowered Group of Secretaries EGOS headed by the Cabinet Secretary and secretaries of 18 ministries as members among others will be set upBriefing the media regarding the decision Union Minister Anurag Thakur said a Multimodal Network Planning Group NPG will be constituted with representation from the heads of the Network Planning Division from various ministries and departmentsThe NPG will be supported by a technical support unit TSU located in the Logistics Division of the Ministry of Commerce and IndustryThe TSU will have domain experts from various infrastructure sectors such as aviation maritime public transport rail roads and highways ports power pipeline GIS ICT financemarket PPP logistics data analytics among othersThe EGOS has been mandated to review and monitor the implementation of the PM GatiShakti NMP to ensure logistics efficiencyThe group is empowered to prescribe framework and norms for undertaking any subsequent amendments to the NMP according to the statementIt will also set out the procedure and definitive framework for synchronisation of various activities and ensure that infrastructure development initiatives are part of the common integrated digital platformEGOS will also look at the interventions required to meet the demand side in efficiently transporting bulk goods on the requirement of various Ministries like steel coal and fertilizer the statement saidThe CCEA has also approved formation composition and terms of reference for Network Planning Group NPG consisting of heads of Network Planning wing of respective infrastructure ministries and it will assist the EGOSBecause of the complexities involved in the overall integration of networks enhancing optimisation to avoid duplication of works for holistic development of any region as well as reducing logistics costs through micro-plan detailing the TSU is approved for providing the required competenciesThe PM GatiShakti NMP is intended to break departmental silos and bring in more holistic and integrated planning and execution of projects to address the issues of multi-modal connectivity and last-mile connectivityWith this approval PM GatiShakti shall bring in various stakeholders together and help integrate different modes of transportation it added PTI RR NKD BAL

New Delhi Sep 29 PTI The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the roll-out of the PM POSHAN in Schools scheme that will provide hot cooked meal to students of elementary classes in government and government-aided schools across the country The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs CCEA chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi The existing mid-day meal scheme will be subsumed into the PM Poshan Shakti Nirman scheme with the addition of several new components in it Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said after the meeting The CCEA chaired by Prime Minister has approved the continuation of National Scheme for PM POSHAN in Schools for the five years from 2021-22 to 2025-26 with a financial outlay of Rs 5406173 crores from the central government and Rs 3173317 crore from the state governments and union territory administrations the government said in a statement The central government will also bear the additional cost of about Rs 45000 crore on food grains Therefore the total scheme budget will amount to Rs 13079490 crore the statement added The PM POSHAN scheme will cover all school children studying in classes 1-8 of government and government-aided schools The scheme will cover about 1180 crore children studying in 1120 lakh schools across the country the statement said PTI PK SKC ZMN ZMN
