New Delhi Mar 23 PTI The Delhi University has advised students to refrain from adopting unfair means during the Open Book Examinations that are underwayIn a notice the Dean of Examination said some students appearing in the examination are using unfair means using various websitesWe have identified various websites and blogs apart from WhatsApp and Telegram groups which students are using for the inappropriate practice The competent authority of the University of Delhi has taken a serious note of it the notice read The university has also initiated the process of identifying such students through their phone numbers in the groupswebsites and is preparing Unfair Means UFM cases against them the notice mentionedAll such cases will be considered as UFM cases and such students will be punished under the University of Delhis rules for dealing with such matters PTI VA SLB NSD

Private school body urges CBSE to reduce weightage of Term 1 examination

New Delhi Mar 22 PTI Alleging that many schools adopted unfair means and malpractices while marking students during Term 1 examinations some private schools have urged the Central Board of Secondary Education to reduce the weightage of the Term I examination for the 2021-2022 session In a letter to CBSE Chairperson Vineet Joshi National Progressive Schools Conference NPSC suggested that the weightage of the Term I Examination should be reduced in the range of 20 per cent to 30 per cent while the weightage of the Term II Examination should be increased in the range of70 per cent to 80 per cent The letter comes days after CBSE shared the Term-1 results of classes 10 and 12 It was observed that during the Term I examinations which were conducted at the home centres many schools adopted unfair means and malpractices Consequently many students of these schools scored full marks in most of the subjects We are sure that CBSE must also have received a similar feedback on this issue the letter read The NPSC which is an association of senior secondary schools across the country and has 195 private schools under its umbrella argued that the performance of students of the schools where the exams were conducted with complete honesty and integrity has not been at par with the afore mentioned which has adversely affected the morale of all the stakeholders The weightage of Term-I and Term-II exams will be decided at the time of declaration of Term-II result and accordingly final performance will be calculated the board had said Last year the CBSE had announced that the board examinations for 2022 will be conducted in two terms The Term-1 exams for major subjects were held between November 30 and December 11 last year The board has already released the date-sheet for the Term-2 exams The exams will commence from April 26 PTI VA SLB RCJ RCJ

New Delhi Feb 21 PTI The Krantikari Yuva Sangathan KYS a student outfit on Monday held a rally to protest against what they called hooliganism of the administration of Delhi Universitys School of Open Learning SOLThe KYS has claimed that a delegation of students was beaten up by the SOL administration on Thursday when they held a demonstration regarding issues affecting them including non-commencement of offline classes late distribution of study materials and the mode of examsHolding banners and pamphlets reading we demand parity among education Institutions and will not tolerate misconduct with SOL students the protesters demanded justice and commencement of offline classes as they marched from SOLs North Campus building to the vice-chancellors officeInstead of addressing the issues the SOL administration beat up a delegation of students who had gone to submit a memorandum The students were confined abused and beaten up at the behest of SOL officiating principal the KYS allegedDespite DU reopening on February 17 SOL has not started offline classes it addedThe student outfit also raised the issue of the mode of upcoming examinationThe students are anxious about the mode of examination for the fourth and sixth semesters as SOL is to conduct physical mode examinations in May This is highly problematic as these batches of students would be taking examinations in the physical mode for the first time without any grounding in this mode the student body notedMeanwhile the SOL officiating principal has filed a police complaint against KYS while the student outfit also gave a complaint to the police PTI VA RHL
