New Delhi Nov 30 PTI The Delhi government on Tuesday extended the validity of learners licenses that expired between February 2020 and November 2021 till January 31 2022 according to an official order issued by the Transport DepartmentThe validity of different transport-related documents including permits fitness and registration certificates has also been extended till December 31The decision was taken in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and the difficulties faced by people in getting slots for driving testsThe Transport Department shared a copy of its order on TwitterConsidering numerous requests received keeping in mind difficulties faced by Delhi Learning License holders in getting slots for Driving license test we have extended validity of LL that has expired between 010220 301121 for 2 more months ie till 310122 the department tweetedIn a tweet Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said the Transport Department has extended the validity of all documents that expired between February 1 2020 and November 30 2021 till December 31The Transport Department has launched an e-learners licence facility under its faceless service model that allows an applicant to take the driving test from his home or workplacePeople can apply online for a learners licence The applicants are given slots to take the driving test without having to visit any office of the department The license is delivered to the address of successful applicants PTI VIT DIV DIV

New Delhi Nov 24 PTI In a move that will benefit owners of lakhs of commercial vehicles in the national capital the Delhi Transport Department has fixed the fees for issuing speed limit device certificates at Rs 500Commercial vehicles require the certificate to show they are equipped with a functional speed limit device also called speed governors at the time of their fitness test Currently Rs 2500 to Rs 3000 is charged for issuing speed limit device certificatesIn an order issued on Tuesday the Transport Department pointed out that various speed governor manufacturers authorised dealers and vendors are charging an exorbitant amount for issuing speed limit device certificates and said that they will not charge more than Rs 500 for issuing these certificatesChandu Chaurasia president of Capital Drivers Welfare Association said the move will benefit around 4 lakh commercial passenger vehiclesWe had raised this issue that we have to pay anywhere between Rs 2500 to Rs 3000 for these certificates I thank the Transport Department and Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot for this decision he saidFour-wheelers are fitted with speed governors to regulate their top speed as per traffic restrictions on different roads in the city PTI VIT DIV DIV
