Hyderabad Dec 22 PTI A former sarpanch from Mulugu district of Telangana who went missing two days ago was killed allegedly by Maoists in neighbouring Chhattisgarh police said on Wednesday The body of K Ramesh in his mid 30s from Venkatapur mandal was found in a forest area of Kothapally village as per information shared by police from Chhattisgarh and also by some villagers they said The mans wife had on Tuesday appealed to the Maoists to release him unharmed if he was in their captivity after suspecting some foul play since her husband who went to Chhattisgarh on Monday had not returned home He was killed by Maoists in Chhattisgarh limits on suspicion of being a police informer a senior police official told PTI over phone adding they were in the process of getting back his body and were coordinating with the Chhattisgarh police In a letter purportedly written by Maoists being circulated in the social media Ramesh was accused of being a police informer and also pretending to be a Maoist sympathiser So far no case has been registered in Telangana in connection with the incident police said PTI VVK APR APR
Hyderabad Dec 21 PTI Five men found in possession of the skin of an adult tiger were nabbed on Tuesday in Mulugu District of Telangana police said They were caught during a vehicle check The tiger skin which they had bought in Chhattisgarh was meant to be sold in Telangana they said Besides this three mobile phones and two bikes were seized from them police said Mulugu District Superintendent of Police Sangram Singh Patil said that the five all from Telangana went to Bijapur district on the bikes and purchased the skin on Monday Forest officials were alerted and they checked the seized item and certified it as authentic tiger skin the SP said As the offence attracts several penal provisions of sections of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972 the case was handed over to Forest Department for further investigation police added PTI VVK APR APR
Hyderabad Nov 23 PTI A 31-year-old man found walking on the boulders kept around the enclosure of the African Lion moat area at the Nehru Zoological Park here a prohibited area was rescued on Tuesday zoo and police officials said A video shot by some visitors showed the man also sitting on the boulders as a lion watches him even as he is later taken away by zoo security personnel He was later handed over to police A police official said preliminary investigation revealed that the man seemed to be mentally unsound The man who was walking on the boulders along the African Lion moat area where the lions are released in the exhibited enclosure at Nehru Zoological Park which is a absolutely prohibited area was rescued and caught by the zoo staff today an official release said Police said no case has been registered so far and that they are investigating the matter PTI VVK APR APR

Hyderabad Nov 17 PTI Eleven inter-state drug and ganja peddlers who were arrested in separate cases here police said on Wednesday Acting on credible information a Special Operations Team SOT took the 11 accused who belong to Maharashtra Andhra Pradesh and from the city into custody from different locations here over the past few days for allegedly dealing with MDMA in powder form and dry ganja they said Police seized 50 grams of Methylenedioxy Methamphetamine MDMA besides 45 kg of ganja from the possession of the 11 accused Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Stephen Raveendra said Cyberabad Police has been making sustained efforts in curbing the drugs menace and in the last two months 132 FIRs were registered and a total of 257 accused were arrested from whom 263 Kgs ganja MDMA 27 pills and three grams in powder form and 10 Ecstasy pills and other narcotics substances were seized the Commissioner added MDMA commonly known as Molly or Ecstasy is used as a recreational or party drug PTI VVK APR APR
Hyderabad Nov 17 PTI A Special Court here has acquitted AIMIM leader and MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi in a hate speech case registered against him in 2004 The Special Sessions Court for trial of MPsMLAs on Tuesday found Owaisi not guilty of the offencesallegations against him and acquitted him A case was registered under relevant IPC sections against him on a complaint from a police official who alleged that the Chandrayangutta legislator made an inflammatory speech at a public meeting here during election campaigning in March 2004 and tried to instigate the public Subsequently a charge-sheet was filed by police after getting the governments nod to prosecute Owaisi After hearing arguments and counter arguments the court acquitted Owaisi for lack of evidence as no independent witness supported the case PTI VVK APR APR
