Jammu Feb 27 PTI A senior government official launched the national polio immunisation drive in Jammu and Kashmir by administering polio drops to children below five years of age at a hospital here on SundayIn Jammu division a total of 866773 children will be administered two drops of the polio vaccine during this intensified pulse polio drive an official spokesperson saidJammu Divisional Commissioner Raghav Langer launched the drive from the Rajiv Gandhi hospital at GangyalElimination of polio cases in Jammu and Kashmir is a success story of the healthcare workers and the government agencies engaged in this noble cause It is a success story of the public health policy against vaccine preventable diseases Langer saidHe added that we need to continue to be vigilant and ensure that every child below five years of age gets polio dropsOn the first day of the drive 5488 booths were set up with 10247 teams and 21259 healthcare workers while 127 transit points were established with 474 team members to cover the children who were travelling the spokesperson saidA total of 1107 supervisors will be observing the drive he said adding on the second and third days of the drive healthcare workers will carry out house visits to cover the left-out childrenPTI TAS RC

Jammu Feb 27 PTI Jammu Divisional Commissioner Raghav Langer has directed deputy commissioners to fast-track pending land acquisition cases of the Army Langer has also requested the Army to provide details of the officers dealing with land cases so that the local military authorities LMAs are taken on board while giving building permissions The divisional commissioner was reviewing the status of land acquisition requisition cases of the Army at a meeting of deputy commissioners senior army officers and officials of the departments concerned here an official spokesman said on Sunday He said threadbare discussions were held on the land acquisition requisitions for defence purposes During the meeting the deputy commissioners apprised the divisional commissioner about the present status of each land acquisition case pending in their respective districts the spokesman said Langer sought case-wise details and directed the officers concerned to expedite and complete the process at the earliest he said The spokesman said the meeting was informed that the housing and urban development department has an online portal for issuance of building permissions Key issues that came up for discussion in the meeting included pending joint demarcations cases of field firing ranges in Jammu and Samba districts works around Jammu airport issues of various military stations in the division derequisition proposals of Domana Jandial Ambaran Chak Singha under the Jammu-Akhnoor-Poonch National Highway and pending board proceedings on part of the Army authorities PTI TAS SMN

Jammu Nov 21 PTI A senior government official in Jammu has called for an ambitious project to arrest the dumping of undesirable effluents into Tawi river during a review meeting held on the progress of various ongoing sewerage network projects and new plants proposed for the city Jammu Divisional Commissioner Raghav Langer directed the agencies to categorise their targets with respect to number of households effluent volume and nallahs streams to be tapped after seeking a detailed stage-wise progress on each individual portion of the citys sewerage network officials said on Sunday The officials said Langer expressed concern over the dumping of undesirable city effluents into Tawi river and asked the agencies concerned to design the ambitious project to check the hazard at the earliest and set separate targets on the project for its right and left banks The meeting was informed that roughly 40 per cent of the projected number of households and its population on the right bank of the river has been linked with sewerage lines and the projects for saturating the rest of the population are under preparation the officials said They said a total of 293 kilometres of sewerage network has been laid on the right bank in parts of Jammu East and Jammu West areas Zone III while a total of 55000 households have been tapped till date under the ongoing projects There are a total of 13 nallahs draining into the river on the right bank and the departmental officials apprised the Divisional Commissioner that about Rs 500 crore shall be required to fully tap them and create a complete network to fully cover all households on the right bank of the city the officials said They said NBCC was reprimanded for not being able to complete the balance 1850 household connections under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission JNNURM or languishing sector schemes and deadline of January 15 2022 was set for the same The officials said work on a sewerage scheme costing Rs 51 crore is under progress through the Urban Environmental Engineering Department UEED on the left bank of Tawi in which five nallahs are to be tapped Work on a four million litres per day MLD sewage treatment plant is complete while another sewerage network is progressing at a very slow pace the officials said The UEED was directed by the Divisional Commissioner to invoke a penalty clause on the contractor and get work executed at the risk and cost of the defaulting contractor they said PTI TAS HDA

Jammu Sep 25 PTI Jammu Divisional Commissioner Raghav Langer has directed the deputy commissioners to immediately submit a list of deadwood employees of the revenue department to facilitate their removal as per the provisions of the civil service regulations Jammu and Kashmir administration has started compiling data of deadwood employees to be retired at the age of 48 years or those who have completed 22 years in service For the process screening committees have to be constituted at district level for the identification of employees as per the prescribed parameters like judging performance of an employee The committee would recommend the names of such deadwood employees to higher authorities for their termination from service Chairing a meeting with deputy commissioners of all the 10 districts of the Jammu region through virtual mode on Friday Langer asked them to convene meetings of the review committees assess the performance of employees in the light of Article 2262 of the Civil Service Regulations and send the recommendations so that the process for their termination can be started The Article 2262 deals with compulsory retirement of the officials on completion of 22 years of qualifying service or on attaining 48 years of age The deputy commissioners informed that they are in process of identifying such employees and the committee meetings will be convened shortly an official spokesman said Meanwhile in another meeting the divisional commissioner directed the deputy commissioners to submit a revised list of martyrs and prominent citizens for renaming of schools roads and chowks roundabouts on their names Pertinently schools colleges and roads in Jammu and Kashmir will be renamed after prominent citizens Indian army soldiers CRPF men and police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty while serving the nation according to officials The deputy commissioners apprised the meeting that the lists have been prepared in their respective districts in consultation with senior superintendents of police block development councils and district development councils the spokesman said Langer asked the deputy commissioners to send the updated lists after consultation with the Panchayati Raj Institutions with order of priority he added PTI TAS AQS AQS

Over 200 doctors set out to hold 105 camps across Jammu border

Jammu Sept 18 PTI Over 200 doctors from different parts of the country would organise over 100 medical-cum-Covid awareness camps during a five-day programme starting Saturday in border areas of the Jammu region an official spokesperson said Jammu Divisional Commissioner Raghav Langer flagged off the Rishi Kashyap Swasthya Seva Yatra organised by the National Medicos Organisation NMO the spokesperson said During the five-day campaign from September 18 to 22 the teams would organise a total of 105 medical-cum-Covid awareness camps in the border and remote areas of the Jammu region from Poonch to Kathua The main objective of the camps is to provide health services to the border residents at their doorsteps In the camps the locals will be provided with free medicines free blood sugar and BP check-ups besides awareness on COVID-19 and the prevention of a possible 3rd wave the spokesman said The NMO is a leading pan-India organisation of qualified doctors and medical students functioning throughout the country It has been organising health camps in JK for the last seven years under Rishi Kashyap Swasthya Seva Yatra a unique and one of its kinds of an event aiming at connecting with people of far-off areas and providing medical services at their doorsteps the spokesman said The divisional commissioner appreciated the efforts of the MNO and others who have organised these camps in rural and border areas of Jammu and Kashmir to solve the basic health issues of people at their doorsteps and in bridging the gaps by creating awareness general public about the prevention of various diseases and their treatment He especially recognised the efforts of doctors from various states for providing their free and selfless services to the people of Jammu and Kashmir PTI TAS RAX RAX
