Jaipur Mar 31 PTI Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday expressed concern over deaths in police custody and asked district superintendents of police to ensure that no custodial deaths take place in their jurisdictions Addressing a meeting of the states top police officials including inspector generals of police and superintendents of police Gehlot also asked them to ensure that policemen do not have links with criminals The chief minister asked the top police brass to take strict action against any police personnel found having any connivance with anti-social elements or criminals a government statement said He urged the police officers to ensure prompt and fair action in each case saying no person is above the law Warning policemen against being negligent in their duty the chief minister said it is the primary duty of the police to bring justice to victims He said strict action should be ensured against hardcore criminals and organized crimes He said the state government is strengthening and modernizing the police department with commitment There is no shortage of resources Now it becomes the responsibility of the police to curb crime in the state and provide speedy justice to victims he said Speaking on the occasion Minister of State for Home Rajendra Yadav asked police officials to work systematically to check the illegal smuggling of arms and illegal drug trade from neighbouring states PTI AG RAX RAX

Jaipur Jan 28 PTI Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday said district superintendents of police should play a positive role in strengthening the law and order situation at grassroots level with the vision of providing justice to every victim He said effective surveillance should be ensured at the levels of police stations and outposts in districts and pro-active policing should make the state a leader in crime control Gehlot made the remarks while addressing a meeting of inspector generals and district superintendents He said it was a matter of satisfaction that due to different innovations there was a significant decline in the average time-taken to dispose of cases of POCSO Act women atrocities and SCST harassment The chief minister said the time taken to probe rape cases was 211 days in 2018 which came down to 86 days in 2021 Last year conviction was achieved in 510 cases of POCSO Act out of which death sentence was given in four cases and life imprisonment in 35 cases He said the state government has set up reception rooms in police stations with the aim of making police work modern people-friendly and added that the post of additional superintendents of police was created in every district for prevention and effective research of crimes against women mandatory FIR registration He directed that in police stations where reception rooms have not been built this work should be completed soon The district superintendent of police should inspect the reception rooms so that the intention with which they have been constructed can be fulfilled Gehlot directed them to adopt innovation for effective prevention of cyber economic and other crimes committed by misuse of technology He asked to take up on priority incidents of death in police custody rape crimes against children atrocities on women etc In such cases immediately inform the media about the situation so that law and order is not disturbed he added PTI AG AAR AAR
Jaipur Jan 24 PTI To make the prices of agricultural produce more competitive online trade in mandis and e-payment must be encouraged Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said on MondayGehlot made the observations while reviewing the budget announcements and progress of departmental schemes of Agriculture Marketing Department through video conferenceIf farmers realise the benefits of e-payment they would themselves go ahead and adopt it Gehlot said while stressing on the need to make farmers aware about itThe chief minister said development of infrastructure is necessary to increase the value of agricultural products and to ensure that the farmers get a fair price for their produceHe said farmers should be made to visit the most successful mandis with e-payment Along with this the Agriculture Marketing Department should make farmers aware by selecting the mandis under the pilot project and run a campaign to make the particular mandi 100 per cent e-payment-basedGehlot said as the Centre has repealed the farm laws now the process of formation of new independent mandis should be expedited in a phased mannerHe said before taking any decision regarding any revision in mandi tax and other rates detailed discussion should be held with the interested groupsThe chief minister said the Agricultural Processing Agribusiness and Agriculture Export Promotion Policy-2019 was launched to increase the income of farmers through value addition by processing agricultural products in their fieldsTo fulfil the objective of this policy it should be ensured that farmers get easy loans from banks for setting up processing unitsHe further said a nodal officer should be appointed in each district of the state who would help farmers get technical and financial assistance PTI AG RHL
Jaipur Jan 20 PTI Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday gave instructions to stop the auction of agricultural land of farmers who failed to repay the loans taken from commercial banks in the state Due to non-payment of loans of farmers taken from commercial banks that are controlled by the Reserve Bank of India in the state land attachment and auction action is being taken under the Rajasthan Agricultural Credit Operation Removal of Difficulties Act 1974 State government officials have been instructed to stop this he said in a statement The chief minister also said that the state government has waived off the loans of cooperative banks and urged the Centre to waive the loans of farmers by doing one-time settlement from commercial banks The state government is ready to bear its share in this also he said Our government had passed a bill in the assembly to ban land auction of farmers having agricultural land up to five acres but due to lack of permission of the governor it has not become a law yet I am sad that due to non-compliance of this law the said situation has come he noted Gehlot expressed hope that the bill will be approved soon Notably many instances of issuing notices to auction the land of farmers who are unable to repay the loans came to the fore recently The main opposition BJP has also targeted the Congress-led state government over the issue PTI AG SRY
