Thane Mar 21 PTI Four employees of a gas supply agency were seriously injured when a gas cylinder kept in their residential quarters exploded at Kalwa in Thane district of Maharashtra a civic official said on Monday The incident occurred around Sunday midnight said Avinash Sawant who heads the Regional Disaster Management Cell RDMC of the Thane Municipal Corporation TMC The four employees sustained 80-90 burn injuries and were admitted to civic-run Shivaji Hospital at Kalwa he said The residential quarters of the employees are located adjacent to the gas agencys office in the Shiv Shakti Nagar area Fire Brigade personnel and a team of RDMC rushed to the spot at midnight on Sunday and shifted the injured to the hospital Sawant said The injured persons are identified as Satyam Yadav 20 Anuraj Singh 29 Rohit Yadav 20 and Ganesh Gupta 19 The cause of the explosion is under investigation PTI COR NSK NSK
Thane Jan 22 PTI Two boys drowned after they went for a swim in a water-filled pit at a firing range in Maharashtras Thane city on Saturday an official said The incident took place at a firing range in Vartak Nagar area of the city around 330 pm said Santosh Kadam chief of the regional disaster management cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation Cousins Gautam Walmiki 12 and Nirbhay Chouhan 15 had ventured into the pit for a swim when they drowned unable to gauge its depth the official said Teams from the RDMC and fire department rushed to the scene and fished out the bodies following a search operation that lasted two hours he said Gautam was a resident of Shastri Nagar while his cousin Nirbhay had come to the city for a visit from Uttar Pradesh two days ago the official said A case of accidental death has been registered with the Vartak Nagar police station it was stated PTI COR ARU ARU

Thane Sep 27 PTI An oil tanker hit a road divider and then collided with four vehicles injuring three occupants of a car and disrupting traffic movement on an busy road in Maharashtras Thane city a civic official said on Monday The accident took place around 1030 pm on Sunday near Gaimukh on Ghodbunder Road the citys main arterial road Thane Municipal Corporations regional disaster management cell RDMC chief Santosh Kadam said The tanker driver apparently lost control over the wheels following which the vehicle first crashed into a road divider and then jumped on to the opposite lane where it collided with three cars and a truck he said The impact of the collision was so severe that the tanker drivers cabin got ripped off from the vehicle and came crashing down on the roof one of the cars trapping its occupants the official said After being alerted firemen local police and RDMC teams rushed to the spot They managed to pull out those trapped in the car after about an hour he said Three car occupants aged 18 30 and 45 were injured and admitted to a private hospital in Mira Road area the official said The other vehicles involved in the accident were also badly damaged he said The accident and bad condition of the road resulted in heavy traffic jam in the area he added PTI COR GK GK
