New Delhi Mar 25 PTI Majority of the schemes under the Women and Child Development Department were on track according to the Delhi governments Outcome Budget for 2021-22 presented in the Assembly on Friday Out of 69 indicators for assessment 80 per cent were on track it said According to the report about 310 lakh women in distress were given monthly financial assistance in 2021-22 as against 281 lakh such women in 2020-21 About 1600 poor widows were given financial assistance of Rs 30000 each for marriage of their daughters while 43659 girls were enrolled under the Ladli scheme till December 2021 Under the scheme 16505 maturity cases have been paid till the third quarter of the year About 1391 lakh children and pregnantnursing mothers are receiving services of nutrition vaccination health services and pre-school activities at 10896 functioning anganwadi centres under ICDS it said Under the Delhi Commission for Women 219 mahila panchayats were established it added Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Manish Sisodia presented the Outcome Budget for the year 2021-22 in the Legislative Assembly PTI SLB SMN SMN

New Delhi Feb 22 PTI The Delhi Development Authority has allotted 679 economically weaker section category households constructed in Kalkaji Extension to Jhuggi Jhopri dwellers of Bhumiheen Camp in an effort to resettle the slum dwellers according to officialsThe households were allotted through drawing of lots The draw of lots was conducted on February 17Out of 2700 households of Bhumiheen Camp the eligibility in respect of 679 households has been decided in respect of Jhuggi Jhopri JJ dwellers whose documents were found complete the Delhi Development Authority DDA said in a statementThe DDA said allotment-cum-demand letters to the successfuleligible households of Bhumiheen Camp shall be issued shortlyAll eligible JJ dwellers of Bhumiheen Camp are to be shifted to built-up economically weaker section EWS flats at Pocket A-14 Kalkaji Extension constructed by DDA on in-house design and build model on payment of Rs 142 lakh including Rs 30000 as maintenance charges for five years the statement mentionedFor the remaining households of Bhumiheen Camp the DDA said deficiency letters have been issued to JJ dwellers concernedThe dwellers have been requested to submit the requisite documentsAs and when the documents are submitted a draw in their favour will also be conducted the statement informedIn-situ rehabilitation of JJ clusters--Bhumiheen Camp Navjeevan Camp and Jawaharlal Nehru Camp-- has been taken up by DDAFor the remaining two JJ clusters -- Navjeen Camp and Jawaharlal Nehru Camp -- a scheme under PPP mode has been prepared and tenders will be floated shortly the DDA added PTI VA GJS SRY

Bengaluru Jan 22 PTI Desperate to come out of a debt trap of around Rs 35 lakh due to online trading a 28-year-old techie allegedly robbed a bank of Rs 8538 lakh at knife-point but was eventually caught police said on Saturday According to police Dhiraj S a mechanical engineer from Basaveshwar Nagar in the city had allegedly stormed into the bank just when the staff were shuttering the SBI branch at BTM Layout under the jurisdiction of Madivala police station on January 14 evening With his face masked Dhiraj held a bank staffer by brandishing a knife at him asking other employees to open the premises The shaken officials followed his instructions police added The accused then took them to the strong room of the bank where he got Rs 377 lakh cash and 18 kg gold jewels loaded in his bag the police said adding that he escaped with the booty Following a complaint the police formed various teams and worked on various intelligence inputs Police was finally able to crack the case and caught him on January 18 evening Upon interrogation Dhiraj revealed that he worked in a software company with a monthly salary of Rs 30000 He had lost a huge sum in an online trading platform called Olymp Trade To overcome the loss he had borrowed about Rs 35 lakh police said As the money lenders started pestering him he planned the bank heist He learnt the basics of bank robbery using some YouTube channels Dhiraj allegedly surveyed many banks not only in Bengaluru but also in Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh and finally zeroed in on the SBI branch at BTM Layout PTI GMS GMS HDA HDA

New Delhi Jan 19PTI The Delhi government on Wednesday signed an agreement with the CESL for providing 5 per cent interest subvention on loan for purchase of electric rickshaws autos carts and light goods vehicles This interest subvention scheme will help not just individual buyers but also the fleet owners deploying vehicles for e-commerce grocery or delivery industry Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said on the occasion The Memorandum of Understanding MoU was signed by Vinod Kumar Yadav Deputy Commissioner Delhi Transport department and Convergence Energy Services Limited CESL representative Polash Das in the presence of Gahlot and other senior officers of the department The 5 per cent interest subvention on loans on the purchase of electric vehicles of the particular category will be in addition to the purchase incentive of Rs 30000 and scrapping incentives of up to Rs 7500 provided under the Delhi EV Policy the Transport department said in a statement Through this scheme an electric auto and electric light commercial vehicle will be able to avail up to Rs 25000 additional benefit it said With more than 31000 electric vehicles sold since the announcement of the Delhi EV Policy in August 2020 access to attractive financing solutions and options is still one of the major deterrents for achieving the critical mass the statement said Currently the rate of interest on EVs varies from 25-30 per cent for some vehicle segments which makes owning an electric vehicle a cost-intensive proposition it said In order to ensure a transparent and smooth process to pass on the benefits to the consumers the CESL in collaboration with the Delhi government will launch an online portal for buyers to avail options to choose from several empanelled models of lithium-ion battery-operated electric three-wheelers including e-autos e-rickshaws e-carts and light goods carriers Under this partnership the CESL will empanel scheduled banks non-banking financial institutions and micro-financing institutions through an open and transparent process to provide loans to electric vehicles at attractive terms it said The empanelled financial institutions will provide loans with a minimum 80 per cent loan-to-value at interest rates of a maximum of 20 per cent including the interest subvention for a loan tenure which is in the best interest of the buyer of electric vehicles the statement said The scheme also looks forward to helping individual fleet owners or those in leading e-commerce grocery or delivery business to increase their fleet size using interest subvention for the purchase of goods carriers it added PTI VIT CK

Thane Dec 19 PTI The Thane District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has held a Pune-based travel agency guilty of deficiency in service and ordered it to refund the amount taken as advance and also pay compensation collectively worth Rs 95000 to a woman tourist The copy of the order which was passed on December 1 was made available on Sunday In the order the commission president Milind S Sonawane and member Poonam V Maharshi directed Mukesh Dilip Ahire of Sab Dekho Duniya Tours and Travels to refund the advance of Rs 75000 he had taken from the complainant a resident of Dombivli in Thane district along with 10 per cent interest from the date of payment of the advance amount The complainants counsel advocate Ashwini Sarjine said the commission also ordered payment of Rs 10000 each towards physical harassment and cost of proceedings to the complainant In her complaint the woman had said that she had booked an eight-day tour package to visit Darjeeling Gangtok Peeling-and Lachung in June 2018 The cost of the tour package was Rs 80000 of which she had paid Rs 75000 as advance The complainant alleged that when she reached Darjeeling with her husband the hotel rooms were leaking and not clean Besides that no food was provided by the hotel In addition to that the tour operator changed their itinerary without informing them due to which they suffered hardships Due to that they had to pay extra money When they raised the issues with the tour operator he did not pay any heed she alleged The complainant then approached the commission seeking a refund of Rs 104290 along with Rs 70000 towards compensation for mental agony and Rs 30000 as litigation charges In the order the commission observed The perusal of the police complaint filed by the complainant at Gangtok police station shows that the opponent changed their tour itinerary and when inquired about it did not respond well which disturbed the complainants tour completely causing harassment to her and her husband The evidence produced by the complainant on record remained unchallenged We find that the opponent has not only caused deficiency in service but also adopted unfair trade practice in dealing with complainant it added PTI COR NP NP

Mumbai Nov 17 PTI The Maharashtra Congress on Wednesday alleged that the Centre had taken away Rs 30000 crore from the state government collected through cess levied on fuel in the last seven months Speaking to reporters here state Congress chief Nana Patole said the Union government has imposed cess in various forms on fuel which came up to Rs 30000 crore between April 1 and October 31 The Union government had given its first blow to the Maharashtra government by holding back GST rebate for months To worsen the financial crisis the Centre levied cess in various forms on fuel It has used various legal means and administrative loopholes to minimise the state governments earnings from the sale of petrol and diesel in the state Patole claimed The Congress leader further alleged that the Centre had introduced cuts in excise duty on petrol and diesel only after it received a setback in the by-polls The Maharashtra Congress has already communicated its demand to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray about exploring ways to introduce some cuts in fuel prices in the state Patole said The Congress-led Rajasthan government has introduced similar cuts in value added tax VAT already he said As the chief minister is recuperating from his surgery we will wait for a few days We will meet him personally and inform him about our demand the Congress leader added PTI ND ARU ARU

New Delhi Oct 24 PTI The Delhi High Court has directed the All India Institute of Medical Sciences AIIMS to pay over Rs 50 lakh to a former employee who was illegally terminated from service noting that the man has been running from pillar to post for the last several yearsRaj Singh who was appointed as a driver by AIIMS sometime in the 1980s will also be paid Rs 19900 as pension every monthAccording to the petitioner he was illegally terminated after which he approached the labour court The labour court in December 1998 held that the termination of service was an unfair labour practice Singh said in his petitionThe labour courts order was challenged before various forums and finally the Special Leave Petition SLP filed by AIIMS was dismissed by the Supreme Court on June 3 2016Petitioner Singh represented through advocate B T Kaul served a legal notice to authorities seeking compliance of the award and payment of the amount but it was not paidThereafter he approached the high courtJustice Prathiba M Singh directed that the man be paid Rs 5049079 towards salary for the period from December 4 1998 which is the date of award and the date of superannuation which is October 31 2016 his leave encashment and his gratuityIt was directed that Rs 19900 be paid to him as monthly pensionThis amount was calculated by the authorities and the court was informed about it However the basis for the computation has still not been explainedHowever considering that the petitioner Singh has been running from pillar to post since 2016 when the Supreme Court dismissed the SLP till date the respondents authorities are directed to pay the amounts in terms of order dated March 9 2021 on or before October 30 2021 to the petitioner workman the high court said in its October 12 orderThe court was also told by advocate Sonali Malhotra representing AIIMS officials that the workman was also required to deposit Rs 30000 as a lifetime validation amount for being enrolled under the Employees Health SchemeTo this the court said that in view of the long duration for which Singh has been fighting the present litigation the amount of Rs 30000 shall now be deposited on his behalf by AIIMS itself in lieu of costs for the long-drawn litigationIt said all the amounts due and payable shall be released by October 30 and a compliance affidavit giving the details of the computation and the manner in which it has been done as also confirming the payment shall be filed on or before November 15The court asked the petitioners counsel to give details of the workmans bank accounts to the counsel for AIIMS for remitting the payment PTI SKV SKV ANB ANB
