Incurred claims of standalone health insurers grow at slower pace in Covid-hit FY21

New Delhi Dec 22 PTI Net incurred claims of standalone health insurers rose by 534 per cent in the COVID-hit 2020-21 compared to 3547 per cent increase in the preceding year showed the Annual Report of Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Irdai on Wednesday The incurred claims of the overall general insurers too grew at a lower rate of 292 per cent compared to 726 per cent during financial year 2019-20 In actual terms net incurred claims of stand-alone health insurers were Rs 677909 crore during 2020-21 This compared with Rs 643543 crore during 2019-20 As per the Annual Report 2020-21 the net incurred claims of the general insurers stood at Rs 112 lakh crore in 2020-21 as against Rs 108 lakh crore in 2019-20 The incurred claims exhibited an increase of 292 per cent during 2020-21 The private sector general insurers stand-alone health insurers and specialised insurers reported increase of 240 per cent 534 per cent and 13243 per cent respectively over the previous year while the PSU general insurers reported a decrease in the incurred claims at 401 per cent Among the various segments health segment had the highest claims ratio at 8951 per cent during 2020-21 as against a claim ratio of 8570 per cent of previous year the report said It further said the new policies issued by stand-alone health insurers at 10541 lakh an increase of 1434 per cent over 2019-20 The growth in issuance of new policies by them was 1663 per cent The report further said the life insurance industry paid benefits of Rs 399 lakh crore in 2020-21 Rs 351 lakh crore in 2019-20 constituted 6342 per cent of the gross premium underwritten 6135 per cent in 2019-20 LIC paid benefits of Rs 286 lakh On death claims Irdai report said in case of individual life insurance business during 2020-21 out of the total 1101 lakh claims the life insurers paid 1084 lakh claims with a total benefit amount of Rs 26422 crore The claims pending at the end of the year were 3055 for Rs 623 crore During 2020-21 life insurers issued 28127 lakh new policies under individual business out of which LIC issued 20975 lakh policies 7457 per cent and the private life insurers issued 7152 lakh policies 2543 per cent The private sector insurers registered a growth of 289 per cent in the number of new policies issued against their previous year LIC and the industry have shown a decline PTI NKD CS MR

New Delhi Dec 21 PTI The Delhi Village Development Board on Tuesday approved an amount of Rs 399 crore for the implementation of 291 schemes in the national capitals rural areas an official statement saidThe board meeting held at the Delhi Secretariat was chaired by Development Minister Gopal Rai who asked officials to ensure the timely implementation of the schemesThe schemes include those for strengthening roads drains community centres parks sports grounds chaupals and gymnasiums in rural areas according to the statementThe Board has approved Rs 399 crore for the implementation of 291 schemes The Delhi government is committed to providing all the facilities to people residing in rural areas the statement saidDuring the meeting Rai instructed the Flood and Irrigation Department which is the main executing agency for rural development projects to complete estimates within the stipulated time and to speed up execution it saidThe board members also raised the issue of pending proposals in the meeting Taking note of this Rai directed the concerned officials to complete the file work within the given time frameThe Delhi government is taking necessary steps to ensure supply of water and electricity besides strengthening roads drains multipurpose community centres and other infrastructure the minister saidIn the current year the government has already taken up development work amounting to Rs 200 crore he saidThe Delhi government is dedicated to providing all facilities in the rural areas besides providing basic amenities in the urban areas Various government agencies including Flood and Irrigation Department and municipal corporations are carrying out the development work the statement said PTI VIT DIV DIV

Ahmedabad Aug 31 PTI Gujarat-based IT firm Naapbooks will be the first startup from Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India EDII to be listed on the BSE SME platform officials said on Tuesday The tech startup has filed for IPO -- opening on September 1 -- on BSE SME platform to raise Rs 399 crore to fund marketing initiatives and fill working capital gaps said Abhishek Jain Director and Co-founder of Naapbooks Ltd The tech startup was mentored at EDIIs technology business incubator CrAdLE Centre for Advancing and Launching Enterprises which is supported by the central government EDII Director General Sunil Shukla saidCrAdLE has incubated more than 65 companies during the last five years and many of them have already entered the commercialisation stage Tech startup Naapbooks is one such company They offer affordable IT solutions to manage various business processes This is beneficial for MSMEs as they find it difficult to buy expensive software and tools Shukla said during a press conferenceIncorporated and founded by Ashish Jain Abhishek Jain and Yaman Saluja in 2017 Naapbooks started with its cloud-based accounting application that provided automated processes as well as secured data management according to a release by EDIIToday it has successfully delivered on the expectations of its clients by completing projects like e-auction Aadhaar based payment solutions e-voting and order management solutions It is also developing various applications to ease the business processes for SMEs starting with visitor management VizMan and supply chain management the release said To scale up and gain more industry exposure the company got incubated in CrAdLE EDII in 2017 With close to five years in the market the startup has a presence in more than five states has 500-plus clients and has completed more than 100-plus projects it added PTI PJT NSK BAL BAL
