New Delhi Apr 22 PTI A couple and one of their associates were arrested for allegedly duping people on the pretext of providing foreign currency at half its market value police said on Friday They identified the arrested men as Jamaal 41 a resident of GTB Enclave and Mohammad Nahid Shaikh 33 a resident of Harsh Vihar The police did not divulge the name of Jamaals wife The complainant an e-rickshaw driver said he learnt from his friend that certain people were providing US dollars at half the market value and hence arranged Rs 1 lakh to get them exchanged for the American currency a senior police officer said He met Jamaal and his wife at Gokalpuri and handed them Rs 1 lakh in return for the US dollars in a bag Soon the couple along with their associate Nahid Shaikh left the venue after which the complainant opened the bag only to find a bundle of newspapers cut in the shape of currency notes police said Jamaal was apprehended from Loni roundabout on Thursday He revealed to the police that the trio executed the crime on the direction of one Kahana Jaleel Deputy Commissioner of Police Northeast Sanjay Kumar Sain said Later Jamaals wife and Sheikh were also arrested They have been involved in several cases of cheating the DCP said Jaleel the kingpin has employed several members for the purpose and he has divided them into groups to carry out assigned tasks One group finds the target The other convinces the targets to get the money exchanged while the third group delivers the bundle of papers and receive the money police said Efforts are on to nab Jaleel they said adding a bike and Rs 45000 were recovered from Jamaal PTI NIT NIT CJ CJ

Jammu Mar 26 PTI An alleged fraudster was arrested for preparing and selling fake qualification certificates here on Saturday police saidRavi Kumar a resident of Kotli Gala Bana was caught along with 100 fake degrees and diplomas from his hideout in R S Pura area on the outskirts of Jammu a police spokesperson saidKumar was arrested on a complaint lodged by one Sunny of Nai Basti he saidThe spokesperson said a case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of Indian Penal CodeThe accused used to sell fake degrees marksheets and diploma certificates in order to earn money illegally he saidHe said the accused used the names of various universities in different parts of the country and was taking Rs 25000 for providing a fake diploma or marksheet and Rs 45000 for a fake degree PTI TAS RHL

Srinagar Dec 23 PTIWith the arrest of three persons on Thursday a fake currency racket has been busted in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir police said here The cops also recovered counterfeit currency notes with face value of Rs 45000 and other tools from a vehicle at Narbal crossing a police spokesman said He said the driver of the vehicle --Taufeeq Hussain Khawaja -- was taken into custody and on his instance two of his associates involved in circulating the fake currency notes in the market were also nabbed During the course of investigation Khawaja confessed his involvement in printing fake currency notes at his house at Baliharan Singhpora Baramulla A raid was carried out at his house during which two printers one paper cutter two reams of bond paper one mobile phone and 10 bond paper sheets with Rs 100 denomination fake currency notes were recovered he said His two aides have been identified as Farooq Ahmad Ganaie and Abdul Hamid Ganaie They were also shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody the spokesman added PTI MIJ RCJ

New Delhi Sep 29 PTI The national Mid-Day Meal Scheme in government and aided schools popularly will now be known as PM POSHAN Scheme and will also cover students of balvatikas or pre primary classes the government announced WednesdayEncouraging Tithi Bhojan to allow people from community to provide special food to children on occasions and festivals using harvest from school nutrition gardens for cooking mid-day meals cooking competitions to promote ethnic cuisine and innovative menus and involvement of Farmers Producer Organizations FPO and Women Self Help Groups in implementation of the scheme are among the features which have been added in the new schemeThe Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the roll-out of the PM POSHAN in Schools scheme that will provide hot cooked meal to students of elementary classes in government and government-aided schools across the country The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs CCEA chaired by Prime Minister Narendra ModiToday the CCEA cleared the PM POSHAN POshan SHakti Nirman Scheme for providing one hot cooked meal in government and government-aided schools from 2021-22 to 2025-26 earlier known as National Programme for Mid-Day Meal in Schools popularly known as Mid-Day Meal Scheme This is a centrally-sponsored scheme which covers all school children studying in classes 1 to 8 in government government-aided schools Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan told reportersUnder the new scheme mid-day meals have been extended to students studying in pre-primary or Balvatikas in addition to children studying in class 1 to 8 in government and government-aided schools across India This will benefit about 1180 crore children studying in 1120 lakh schools he addedThe CCEA has approved the continuation of the national scheme of PM POSHAN in schools for the five-year period 2021-22 to 2025-26 with the financial outlay of 2 5406173 crores from the central government and 3173317 crore from state governments and union territory administrationsCentral government will also bear additional cost of about Rs 45000 crore on food grains Therefore the total scheme budget will amount to 13079490 crore The concept of Tithi Bhojan will be encouraged extensively Tithi Bhojan is a community participation programme in which people provide special food to children on special occasions and festivalsGovernment is also promoting development of School Nutrition Gardens in schools to give children first-hand experience with nature and gardening The harvest of these gardens is used in the scheme providing additional micro nutrients School Nutrition Gardens have already been developed in more than 3 lakh schools he saidWhile social audit of the scheme is made mandatory in all the districts special provision is made for providing supplementary nutrition items to children in aspirational districts and districts with high prevalence of AnemiaCooking competitions will be encouraged at all levels right from village level to national level to promote ethnic cuisine and innovative menus based on locally available ingredients and vegetables Involvement of Farmers Producer Organizations FPO and Women Self Help Groups in implementation of the scheme will be encouraged Use of locally grown traditional food items for a fillip to local economic growth will be encouraged Pradhan saidField visits for progress monitoring and inspections will be facilitated for students of eminent universities and institutions and also trainee teachers of Regional Institutes of Educations RIE and District Institutes of Education and Training DIET PTI GJS PK SKC ZMN

New Delhi Sep 29 PTI The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the roll-out of the PM POSHAN in Schools scheme that will provide hot cooked meal to students of elementary classes in government and government-aided schools across the country The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs CCEA chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi The existing mid-day meal scheme will be subsumed into the PM Poshan Shakti Nirman scheme with the addition of several new components in it Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said after the meeting The CCEA chaired by Prime Minister has approved the continuation of National Scheme for PM POSHAN in Schools for the five years from 2021-22 to 2025-26 with a financial outlay of Rs 5406173 crores from the central government and Rs 3173317 crore from the state governments and union territory administrations the government said in a statement The central government will also bear the additional cost of about Rs 45000 crore on food grains Therefore the total scheme budget will amount to Rs 13079490 crore the statement added The PM POSHAN scheme will cover all school children studying in classes 1-8 of government and government-aided schools The scheme will cover about 1180 crore children studying in 1120 lakh schools across the country the statement said PTI PK SKC ZMN ZMN
