Jaipur Feb 28 PTI Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has urged the Centre to bring a legislation to provide social security to the needyDuring the UPA regime led by Manmohan Singh an era of providing rights to people -- be it Right to Education Right to Information MGNREGA or the Food Security Act -- was started the chief minister saidCountrymen should have the right to social security The Centre should bring a legislation to give a guarantee of social security to people be it destitute single women elderly people labourers etc he told PTIMachines have their significance but human labour is very important and it is the duty of the governments to take care of themThey have issues when they attain old age and are not able to work That is where the role of the government becomes crucial in providing them security he saidThe chief minister claimed that his government has taken many initiatives including the budget announcement for revival of old pension scheme for state employees free treatment for them at all state-run hospitals in IPD and OPDs and increasing the amount under CM Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh per family with a humanitarian approachReferring to another budget announcement -- the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme the chief minister said just like rural areas needy families in the urban areas of the state will also get 100 days of employmentBe it health employment or agriculture sector the state government has been taking regular steps for the last three years During the corona pandemic we instantly took the initiative to provide financial assistance of Rs 5500 to destitute families he saidA financial relief package for children who lost their parents and women who lost their husbands due to COVID-19 was also announced in June last year he saidUnder the package an ex-gratia amount of Rs 1 lakh and a pension of Rs 1500 a month was provided to women who lost their husbands due to the viral disease For children of these widows Rs 1000 a month per child and Rs 2500 a month for school books and dress was provided he said It is the duty of the government to take care of its citizens under the concept of the welfare state he added PTI AG SDA TDS TDS

ICICI Bank Q3 consolidated profit jumps nearly 19 on NII growth lower provisions

Mumbai Jan 22 PTI Private sector lender ICICI Bank on Saturday reported a nearly 19 per cent jump in its consolidated profit to Rs 6536 crore for the quarter ended in December 2021 helped by higher net interest income NII and lower provisions The bank had posted a profit after tax of Rs 5498 crore in the year-ago period It was an all-round growth We had an NII growth of 23 per cent and core operating profit also grew by 25 per cent Our provisions declined by 27 per cent the lenders Executive Director Sandeep Batra told reporters here However total income was lower at Rs 3986580 crore in the third quarter this fiscal compared to Rs 4041908 crore in the same quarter a year ago according to a regulatory filing On a standalone basis the profit after tax jumped by 25 per cent to Rs 6194 crore in the third quarter of FY2022 compared to Rs 4940 crore in the same quarter of FY2021 Total income increased to Rs 2706967 crore from Rs 24416 crore in the year-ago period Net interest income NII jumped by 23 per cent year-on-year to Rs 12236 crore compared to Rs 9912 crore Net interest margin NIM stood at 396 per cent compared to 367 per cent in the year-ago quarter Fee income grew by 19 per cent year-on-year to Rs 4291 crore from Rs 3601 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal Treasury income declined to Rs 88 crore during the reporting quarter compared to Rs 766 crore in Q3 FY2021 The treasury income in Q3 FY2021 included a gain of Rs 329 crore from sale of shares of ICICI Securities the lender said in a release Gross non-performing assets GNPA ratio was at 413 per cent in the third quarter as against 438 per cent in the year-ago quarter Net NPA stood at 085 per cent from 063 per cent in the year-ago period Speaking of the impact of the third wave of Covid-19 Batra said As things stand today the third wave may have created local disruptions We do not anticipate at this point of time any significant economic disruptions to the portfolio that we have The lender has a Covid provision of Rs 6425 crore which it did not release during the December quarter he said Provisions excluding provision for tax declined by 27 per cent to Rs 2007 crore from Rs 2742 crore The gross addition to NPAs during the quarter was about Rs 4018 crore compared to around Rs 5500 crore in the September quarter Of that retail was about Rs 3853 crore and corporate and SME was about Rs 165 crore Recoveries and upgrades of NPAs excluding write-offs and sale were Rs 4209 crore The gross NPAs written-off in the quarter were Rs 4088 crore Its restructured book stood at Rs 9684 crore or 12 per cent of total advances as of December 31 2021 The banks total capital adequacy as of December 31 2021 was 1979 per cent Total advances increased by 16 per cent year-on-year to Rs 813992 as of December 31 2021 The domestic advances grew by 18 per cent y-o-y Its retail loan portfolio grew by 19 per cent Total deposits rose by 16 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1017467 crore as of December end Batra said the value of credit card spends in Q3 FY2022 was 22 times the value of credit card spends in the year-ago period Meanwhile the bank on Saturday informed exchanges that Vibha Paul Rishi has been appointed as its Additional Independent Director for a period of five years with effect from January 23 2022 The appointment of Rishi came after Rama Bijapurkar resigned as Independent Director citing conflict of interest Her resignation will be effective from January 23 2022 PTI HV MR MR

New Delhi Jan 20 PTI State-run Convergence Energy Services Ltd CESL on Thursday launched the biggest ever tender worth about Rs 5500 crore to procure as many as 5580 electric buses including 130 double deckers CESL a wholly-owned subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited EESL on Thursday announced the floating of a request for proposals for the biggest ever demand for electric buses under the Grand Challenge -- a set of homogenized demand for electric buses aggregated across five major cities according to a statement It said the tender value is estimated to be Rs 5500 crore The cities to be covered under this Grand Challenge are Bangalore Delhi Surat Hyderabad and Kolkata in the first phase The first lot of e-buses are expected to hit the roads by July this year it added Through this Grand Challenge CESL aims to deploy 5450 single decker buses and 130 double decker buses This Grand Challenge Tender represents efforts by so many people STUs OEMs financiers Niti Aayog DHI and of course my colleagues This is the biggest ever scheme in the world and is based on an innovative asset-light model that makes it possible for STUs to deploy affordably and at scale Mahua Acharya MD CEO CESL said CESL intends to enhance its support to state governments in achieving their electric mobility targets as well as further build an infrastructure for electric mobility in the country Standardizing tendering conditions in diverse cities is a big step towards the transformation of public transport in India Participation in the Grand Challenge is a commendable effort from STUs who I am sure will stand to gain from economies of scale through the aggregation of demand by CESL Amitabh Kant CEO NITI Aayog said This is seen as a big step in the series of initiatives to fulfill the commitments made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making India a Net Zero nation by 2050 and getting closer to achieving Energy Independence by 2047 the statement said I am pleased to announce today that Delhi has requested 1500 buses under the Grand Challenge and stands ready to offer state subsidies where they are required We are aggressively pursuing electric mobility and I commend CESL for its efforts to standardize the terms and conditions for how this is delivered Kailash Gahlot Transport Environment Minister of Delhi said The benefits of participating in the Grand Challenge include lower prices realized due to aggregate demand high quality benchmarked technology access to FAME-II incentives access to state incentives air quality improvement and access to domestic and international sources of finances Keeping in mind the changing environment where climate change related issues and energy independence have turned the focus on EVs CESL will later be expanding support to more cities PTI KKS DRR

New Delhi Nov 19PTI In view of the alarming levels of air pollution the Transport department of the Delhi government has asked motorists to get colour-coded fuel stickers for their vehicles The display of chromium-based hologram stickers on all vehicles registered in NCT of Delhi are mandatory as per a Supreme Court order and the Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989 said a notice issued by the department on Friday The owners of old vehicles are advised to approach dealers concerned for affixing Chromium based hologram stickers on the windshield of their vehicles depending on the relevant class of fuel it said The colour-coded stickers help enforcement personnel visibly identify fuel type of a vehicle during checks on the roads Vehicles registered prior to April 2019 did not come with these stickers -- blue for petrol or CNG and orange for diesel vehicles According to the rules owners of vehicles without sticker are liable to be slapped with a fine of Rs 10000 compoundable to Rs 5500 for the offence We are only increasing awareness about these stickers and no enforcement drive is planned in near future said a Transport department officer The stickers also contain details like the registration number registering authority a laser-branded PIN and the engine and chassis numbers of the vehicles PTI VIT VN VN
