UP Cabinet raises honorarium of mid-day meal cooks

Lucknow Apr 26 PTI The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday approved a proposal to raise the honorarium of part-time instructors and cooks posted in the states Basic Education Department The government took the decision in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath In its meeting the Cabinet approved raising the Rs 7000 honorarium of around 27555 part-time instructors to Rs 9000 per month Minister of State for Basic Education Sandeep Singh told reporters after the Cabinet meeting Apart from this a proposal to increase the honorarium of 377520 cooks engaged for preparing food under the mid-day meal scheme from Rs 1500 to Rs 2000 in schools Singh said The Cabinet also approved a proposal to give an extra sum of Rs 500 per year to all women cooks he said About another decision states Industries Minister Nand Gopal Nandi said the Cabinet also okayed a tender for operating the toll plazas and collecting tolls on the Purvanchal Expressway besides deploying six ambulances and 12 patrol vans manned by the requisite number of personnel He said the tender was invited earlier and against the reserved price of Rs 200 crore it was given at Rs 222 crore Asked when the toll tax collection would start on the expressway Nandi said the Cabinet has approved the tender today itself after which its contract will be readied The process of recovery of toll will be started as soon as possible he added Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said a total of nine resolutions were passed in the Cabinet meeting today Referring to another decision Khanna said Uttar Pradesh will now produce about 10 lakh litres of HPLC liquid in the state It is a type of ethanol used in chemical laboratories Till now the state government used to import it from China he added PTI SLM SAB RAX RAX

New Delhi Mar 30 PTI The governments sale of 15 per cent stake in ONGC on Wednesday saw institutional buyers putting in bids worth Rs 4854 crore -- three and half times their quota -- but the companys share took a beating on stock exchanges falling 514 per cent and eroding shareholders value The government is selling 943 crore equity shares in Indias top oil and gas producer at a floor price of Rs 159 apiece with an option to retain an equivalent amount of over-subscription The two-day Offer-For-Sale OFS was opened to institutional investors on Wednesday Against 849 crore shares reserved for non-retail investors 1698 crores together with greenshoe option 3035 crore shares or 35744 per cent more were sought according to stock exchange data At the indicative price of Rs 15991 a share bids by the institutional investors are worth Rs 4854 crore Department of Investment and Public Asset Management DIPAM Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey tweeted that the OFS of government equity in ONGC has received an enthusiastic response from the non-retail investors The issue was subscribed 357 times the base size The government has decided to exercise the green-shoe option Pandey tweeted The OFS will open for retail investors on Thursday As many 9435 lakh shares 188 crores with greenshoe option are reserved for retail investors The government has priced the OFS at a 7 per cent discount to the Rs 17105 stock closing price of ONGC on BSE on Tuesday And on Wednesday the stock further fell to Rs 16225 The fall in stock price translates into a loss of market capitalisation of over Rs 11000 crore For the government the loss at 6041 per cent shareholding is little less than Rs 7000 crore Through the OFS the government is targeting to raise Rs 3000 crore And going by the stock price it lost more value than it gained Minority shareholders lost over Rs 4000 crore and employees run the risk of losing a part of their performance-related pay PRP as market capitalisation is one of the key parameters of evaluation in 2021-22 industry sources said So far in the current fiscal the government has mopped up Rs 1242367 crore through OFS employee OFS strategic disinvestment and buyback This is against the disinvestment target of Rs 78000 crore for the current fiscal PTI JD ANZ ANZ RUJ RUJ

Kolkata Nov 28 PTI The Indian Jute Mills Association IJMA has suggested to revise the fair raw jute price to Rs 7200 per quintal from Rs 6500 per quintal now fixed by the regulator Jute Commissioner The IJMA had submitted their suggestion after an emergency meeting pursuant to a high level meeting at the Nabanna the state secretariat in presence of state Chief Secretary The West Bengal government had sought their suggestions as it cannot allow unabated price rise of foodgrain jute sacking bags IJMA members understood the sentiments of the government that unabated rise in price of raw jute leading to consequent rise in price of jute bags cannot be permitted Hence IJMA would like to propose that the purpose of computation of B Twill prices maximum price of raw jute TDN3 ex-West Bengal Kolkata landed may be considered at Rs 7200 per quintal IJMA sources told PTI They said despite fair price fixed by Jute Commissioner at Rs 6500 but landed cost to mills is Rs 7000 as jute balers were adding Rs 500 as transportation cost and hence industry was deprived to get raw material at the announced fair price and urged the government to consider this in computation of the final sacking bag The mills body also pointed out that since market forces will be allowed to function freely in raw jute trade and at some point the prices may fall below the proposed maximum price of Rs 7200 per quintal the lower raw jute price shall be considered for B Twill price computation IJMA suggested this proposed arrangement should remain valid up to the end of the current jute year ie 30th June22 Several meetings had already taken place on the prevailing crisis and West Bengal had taken up with the Prime Ministers Office and Ministry of Textiles on IJMAs request for review of the price cap notification and also on the question of sustainability of such order Meanwhile there had been protests against the Jute Commissioners order on jute stock limit for various types of traders PTI BSM RG RG

Kolkata Nov 24 PTI Coal India Ltd on Wednesday said the company is aiming at investing Rs 40000-50000 crore as capital expenditure in the next 4-5 years The Rs 17000-crore capex capital expenditure for the current fiscal is on track CIL chairman Pramod Agrawal told investors He also acknowledged that price revision is inevitable and this may happen soon We have spent Rs 7000 crore capex so far and our Rs 17000-crore target for the current fiscal is on track We will invest around Rs 40000-50000 crore in the next 4-5 years he said Most of the incremental capex will go into coal production and evacuation he said Asked about a mismatch between EBITDA earnings before interest taxes depreciation and amortisation and the increased capex of the miner he said Our industry mining is not like any manufacturing entity in which an increase in capital expenses will translate into higher EBITDA We have to carry out such expenditure to maintain production Since last year only we have invested heavily in production and evacuation he said The Maharatna company said the capital expenditure plan will not be affected due to a fall in receivables as it has enough cash flow to manage the investments As of October the receivables of the coal behemoth were at Rs 12000 crore down from Rs 19000 crore in March 2021 PTI BSM BDC BDC

croreTalking to reporters at the Jollygrant airport here after returning from the survey of the affected areas in the Kumaon region Shah said that the alertness of the central and state government agencies helped contain the damageRelief and rescue operations continued in the worst-hit Kumaon region amid efforts to restore connectivity and evacuate people from vulnerable areasEarlier Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that three days of incessant rains in the state have caused damages worth Rs 7000 croreRestoring the network of damaged roads and bridges at the earliest and evacuating people to safety is the priority at the moment he saidA heavy rain alert was issued well in advance that helped take the required precautionary steps like halting the Chardham Yatra The damage could have been more if it was not done Timely mobilisation of search and rescue teams and arrival of IAF helicopters to assist in rescue operations helped minimise the potential damage Shah saidSixty-four unfortunate rain-related deaths have been reported in the state while more than 11 people are still missing he saidAccording to state authorities the death toll due to rain-related incidents in the state increased to 54 with 19 people injured and five still missing At 28 Nainital district has reported the maximum number of deathsShah did not announce any immediate relief package for Uttarakhand and said that a detailed estimate of the losses needs to be prepared firstHe said the state was given Rs 250 crore nearly a month ago considering its vulnerability to natural disasters and that can take care of the relief and rescue measures currently underwayThe Centre is with the state government and it will give all support to Uttarakhand in its rehabilitation efforts the Union minister saidHe said all blocked roads in the affected areas have been cleared except three which suffered nearly 25-metre breaches and added that 3500 people have been rescued so farBig breaches may take more time to repair he saidShah said 80 per cent telephone connectivity has been restored and availability of 60 per cent electricity has been ensured so far in the affected areas The remaining shortage will also be removed soonAt a high-level meeting with senior officials and state ministers after surveying the rain-hit areas Shah asked the Uttarakhand government to send medical teams to the affected areas to prevent the spread of diseasesDamaged power lines should be repaired at the earliest and the good coordination between central and state agencies which was evident during the recent spell of heavy rains in the state should be kept up he saidHe also sought the state governments suggestions on what needs to be done for better disaster management in the stateShah praised Dhami for his handling of the situation saying relief and rescue operations were launched in time and many lives could be saved due to thisHe said 3500 people were rescued while 16000 others were evacuated to safe locations Seventeen teams of the National Disaster Response Force seven teams of the State Disaster Response Force 15 teams of the Provincial Armed Constabulary and 5000 police Dhobi Ghat have been shifted he saidGarbiyal said relief camps have been set up at a number of places Twenty-five people were airlifted and six others were rescued with the help of rafts in Ramnagar while 30 families from Sundarkhal and Ramnagar were airlifted and moved to safe locationsRelief camps have also been set up in Puchdi area which was flooded Fifty-four members of 10 families living in Puchdi Nai Basti have been accommodated in a relief camp set up at the Government Girls Primary School Poochri he saidA total of 150 people were brought to Ramnagar safely in roadways buses and sent to their destinations free of cost while 97 families affected by floods in Lalkuan have been shifted to a gurdwara and relief camps he addedMeanwhile the Chardham Yatra which was temporarily halted on
