New Delhi Mar 27 PTI A start-up incubated by the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi is using green technology which avails less energy no electricity or furnace and is completely pollution-free to convert waste from steel mills into useable productsSteel mills generate a huge amount of waste most of which gets thrown into landfills contributing to environmental pollution Green Trek a Jammu and Kashmir-based start-up was founded by Satinder Nath Gupta and his son Sandeep Gupta and uses extractive metallurgy to address the problem of pollutionAccording to officials the team uses clean combustion techniques to trim the waste into a metal with high iron content which can then be reused by industries like ship building stone crushing plants oil and gas plants and power plantsWe are working on a circular economy model by utilising extractive metallurgy whereby greenhouse gases are reduced and a sustainable waste management process is put in place Sandeep told PTIThe method we have devised uses less energy uses no electricity or furnace and is 100 per cent pollution-free and emitting minimal greenhouse gases The end product is molten meal with an iron content of 996 per cent which is then mixed with other metals to make various kinds of high value steel and alloy castings used in a range of industries he addedGreen Treks vision is to manufacture quality green steel products by leveraging cutting edge technology and pioneer solid waste management in India and abroadThe team signed an MoU to set up a permanent plant in Himachal Pradesh which will cater to leading companies like Ultratech ACC and Ambuja CementThe objective of this MoU is to facilitate Green Trek to set up a green steel recycling unit for the supply of spares to the locally based heavy industries such as cement plants and stone crushers by minimising greenhouse gases through its unique process of manufacture The government in this regard would facilitate all necessary approvals licenses and help to green trek as and when required Sandeep addedPTI GJS SRY

Prayagraj Dec 30 PTI Four men were injured in firing allegedly by an Excise department constable in Keet Ganj area of the district here police said on Thursday The injured were taken to SRN Hospital for treatment where one of them was said to be in critical condition Superintendent of Police Prayagraj Range Rakesh Kumar said The constable identified as Vimlesh Pandey is reportedly on suspension from duty he said According to a local Pandey has set up an office in an establishment he encroached upon in the area and was sitting in it with five other men at the time of the incident The incident took place when two brothers Sandeep Gupta and Vishal Gupta objected to Pandeys raising noise and using cuss words When the row became heated Pandey allegedly fired at the two brothers with his service pistol injuring both of them and also two others of the same locality PTI COR VN VN
Jammu Dec 28 PTI The crime branch of the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday registered a case against two persons for allegedly duping a man on the pretext of selling him an 82-inch LED television through an online shopping website an official said The case was registered against Chandra Kumar of Tripura and Rohminglui of Mizoram following a complaint by Sandeep Gupta a resident of Udhampur a spokesperson of the crime branch Jammu said Gupta in his complaint alleged that he was tricked by the online fraudsters and was duped of Rs 48500 on the pretext of providing him the television through an online shopping website he said On receipt of the complaint the spokesman said a preliminary verification was conducted and the allegations have been substantiated The bank record of the transactions made by the complainant were obtained from the bank concerned and accordingly a formal case was registered for in-depth investigation and further action he said PTI TAS AB AQS AQS
