New Delhi Jan 26 PTI The North Delhi Municipal Corporation NDMC has been certified Open Defecation Free by the government the civic body said on Wednesday A city or ward could be declared open-defecation-free if at any point of the day not a single person is found defecating or urinating in the open and all community and public toilets are functional and well-maintained The NDMC has got open defecation free ODF certificate from Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs NDMC Commissioner Sanjay Goel was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the civic body He said a third-party inspection conducted by IQVIA on behalf of the Union ministry This exercise was part of the nationwide Swachh Bharat Mission Urban 20 SBM and the inspection took place between December 14-17 he added IQVIA team surveyed 44 spots such as community toilet blocks public toilets etc in areas falling in the jurisdiction of NDMC and amalgam of slums residential colonies and markets and found no evidence of human excreta lying in the open the report states the civic body said The team found community toilets public toilets and stand-alone urinals very clean and aspirational the statement said The commissioner said it is the collective effort of all the officials of NDMC who worked day and night to get the ODF tag He said that it was very challenging despite demography and population density here We had to not just clean and maintain the quality of toilets but change peoples mindset We held meetings with RWAs market associations and other representatives organised workshops for officials also This ODF certificate would also motivate officials to improve ranking in Swachh Survekshan 2022 as compared to last year he said PTI KND AAR AAR

New Delhi Jan 19 PTI AAP councillor and leader of opposition in the BJP-led North Delhi Municipal Corporation Vikas Goel on Wednesday sought job and financial assistance to the kin of NDMC employees who lost their lives while on Covid duty He was speaking during a discussion on the NDMC annual budget for financial year 2022-23 In his speech he accused the ruling party in the civic body of turning Delhi into a garbage dump and of irregularities in the contract for garbage disposal at the Bhalswa landfill site which was given at a rate of Rs 306 per metre The North Delhi Municipal Corporation is not proposing any increase in property tax in its budget in view of financial strains faced by people due to the COVID-19 pandemic Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Goel had said on November 25 while presenting the budget However given the financial condition of the civic body I request the standing committee of the NDMC to consider a minor increase of 2 per cent in property tax rates for financial year 2022-23 he had said He had also requested that the rebate enjoyed by people on early filing of property tax be reduced from 15 per cent to 10 per cent As per the NDMC budget the revised budget estimates for 2021-22 stand at Rs 732137 crore while the budget estimate for the year 2022-23 stands at Rs 580824 crore AAP MLA Atishi in statement issued by her party had alleged that the corporation has proposed an increase in property tax by 2 per cent The budget finalisation is expected to happen soon and it comes ahead of the civic polls early this year Dependents of employees who died during Covid duty should be provided one job each as well as financial help Goel was quoted as saying in a statement issued by AAP on Wednesday DBC dengue breeding checking staff should likewise be regularised I oppose the one-day break in their service in exchange for a service extension for the years 2022-23 he said The leader of opposition also claimed only the AAP-led Kejriwal government can end corruption in the MCD Aam Aadmi Party also demands the BJP-ruled NDMC regularise all employees and pay their salaries and dues on time he added PTI KND RDK RDK

New Delhi Nov 27 PTI Resident doctors of civic-run Hindu Rao Hospital who were on strike for the last few days over release of due salaries and other issues called off their stir on Saturday after being assured by authorities that their demands will be met a senior official said The 900-bed facility under the North Delhi Municipal Corporation NDMC is the largest civic-run hospital in the city The decision was taken after a meeting of North Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh Chairman of NDMC Standing Commitee Jogi Ram Jain Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Goel and representatives of the hospitals resident doctors association RDA at the Mayor House here a senior civic official said Later the NDMC also issued a statement saying the strike had been called off after the mayor and the standing committee chairman gave assurances to the protesting doctors that their demands will be met We have released salaries of resident doctors of Hindu Rao Hospital due for October Some would have received it today others will also get it in their account shortly Jain claimed and added that the resident doctors called off their strike on Saturday A very long meeting was held at the Mayor House he said A senior official of the hospital also said the salaries of resident doctors due for October has been released Jain claimed that salaries of senior doctors due for October have also been released and we have asked MCDA members to not go on a strike from Monday as it will affect patient services Senior doctors of NDMC-run hospitals and other civic facilities are set to go on an indefinite strike from Monday over the issue of their due salaries and arrears their association had said on Thursday The decision was taken by the Municipal Corporation Doctors Association MCDA in its general body meeting on Thursday its president Dr R R Gautam said adding emergency services will not be affected The MCDA an association of senior permanent doctors of civic hospitals was established in 1974 and has about 1200 members It also includes doctors from hospitals run by the other two -- east and south -- municipal corporations Doctors of the SDMC and EDMC are not part of this indefinite strike which we have planned to resort to from Monday If the due salaries for October is releasedMCDA members will not go on strike Gautam had earlier said PTI KND CK

New Delhi Sep 22 PTI Eighteen more buildings in NDMCs Malkaganj ward have been added to the list of dangerous structures after a fresh survey was conducted by the civic body in the wake of collapse of a four-storey building in the area recently officials said on Wednesday Chairman of the Standing Committee of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation NDMC Jogi Ram Jain also claimed that no fault of any civic official had been found in the probe that was ordered into the September incident in which two children were killedOn September 15 the NDMC Standing Committee had directed its commissioner to conduct a probe into recent building collapse incidents including the one at MalkaganjNo fault of any civic official has been found in the Malkaganj incident Some civil work was being done in the building the night before the collapse No local resident or councillor had complained about it The building collapsed the next morning Jain claimedAlso in our last meeting we had proposed that compensation be given to the next of kin of people who died in such incidents and financial assistance for those who got injured as per policy However under the DMC Act there is no such provision and during the NDMC House meeting today a discussion was held on it and felt that Delhi government should offer compensation he saidThe safety of old houses and other structures has come into sharp focus as two boys aged seven and 12 were killed after the four-story building had collapsed in north Delhis Sabzi Mandi areaHours after the collapse the areas civic body had ordered a probe into the incident and decided to reassess condition of all dangerous buildings across its six zonesAbout 700 buildings located in areas under the jurisdiction of the NDMC were declared as dangerous structures in a pre-monsoon survey by it senior officials had earlier saidWhile the building which collapsed in Malkaganj was not declared a dangerous structure in the survey nine properties located on Main Road Old Sabzi Mandi where the incident took place were kept under dangerous category they saidTwenty structures were declared as dangerous in the Malkaganj ward where the building that collapsed was located the civic body had saidAfter the fresh survey 18 more buildings in Malkaganj ward have been added to the list of dangerous structures So the total number of such buildings now stands at 38 Jain saidNorth Delhi Municipal Commissioner Sanjay Goel could not be reached for commentsGoel while ordering a probe into the Malkaganj collapse incident had sought a report on it in seven daysAn inquiry has been ordered by the commissioner NDMC into this unfortunate incident to be conducted by the Building Department HQ and directed for submission of report within seven days Further necessary action against delinquent official if any will be taken after receipt of the report the NDMC had said in a statement on September 13 PTI KND ANB ANB
