Thane Jan 28 PTI A furniture godown was gutted in a major fire at Kasheli in Bhiwandi tehsil of Maharashtras Thane district in the wee hours of Friday but nobody was injured in the incident an official said The fire broke out around 140 am at the godown located in Chamunda Compex he said Chief of the Thane civic bodys Regional Disaster Management Cell RDMC Santosh Kadam said that after being alerted two fire engines - one each of the Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation BNCMC and Thane Municipal Corporation TMC - along with a team of the RDMC rushed to the spot and launched a firefighting operation The cause of fire is being ascertained he said PTI COR NP NP
Thane Jan 27 PTI A two-year-old boy was rescued by firemen from a room he got accidentally locked in at a residential building in Maharashtras Thane city a civic official said The incident took place around 1030 am when the mother of the boy Shiv Jagtap stepped out of the room on the third floor to dry clothes said Santosh Kadam chief of the regional disaster management cell The toddler was playing with the lock of the room when the latch fell and he was trapped inside he said An alarm was raised and teams from the fire brigade and disaster management cell reached the scene and rescued the boy the official added PTI COR ARU ARU

Thane Oct 24 PTI One person was killed after a portion of the slab of a five-storey residential building collapsed in Maharashtras Thane district a civic official said The incident took place in Ulhasnagar town around 10 pm on Saturday when the slab of an apartments bedroom located on the fifth floor of Paras building crashed on the fourth floor Thane Municipal Corporations regional disaster management cell chief Santosh Kadam said One person identified as Nareshlal Poptani 24 received injuries and died on the spot he said After being alerted local firemen police and a team of the disaster management cell rushed to the spot and carried out rescue and relief operations he said Later as a precautionary measure all occupants of the building were evacuated the official said Civic officials will inspect the building on Sunday he added The building constructed in 1995-96 had 15 flats and four shops Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporations spokesperson Yuvraj Badane said PTI COR GK GK
