New Delhi [India], March 20 (ANI): In an effort to maintain peace and tranquillity on the occasion of Holi, Delhi Police arrested about 74 people for drinking in public on Friday in the Outer district part of New Delhi.
Kochi Dec 28 PTI The Kerala High Court on Tuesday sought the response of all the accused including actor Dileep on the state governments appeals against a trial courts orders declining its pleas to summon several more witnesses and get certified copies of the call detail records of the accused in the actor sexual assault case of 2017 Justice Viju Abraham issued notice to all the accused in the case seeking their stand on the prosecutions two separate petitions and listed the matters for further hearing on January 6 2022 The prosecution in one of the petitions has sought original customer applications in respect of 25 mobile numbers including that of Dileep as well as proper certificates in accordance with Section 65 B of the Evidence Act for the call detail records of eight numbers which too includes that of the actor The fresh certificates have been sought as the earlier ones did not furnish the entire details the petition has said It has challenged the trial courts December 21 decision dismissing its application seeking the call records and original customer applications In the second plea the prosecution has challenged the dismissal by the trial court of its petition to summon 16 witnesses for further evidence Out of the 16 nine were additional witnesses and seven were those who had already been examined the second plea said The trial court on December 21 had allowed the summoning of the three witnesses and rejected the request for summoning the others The prosecution has contended that the finding of the lower court that the customer application forms for mobile connections were in the names of different persons and the same were only possessed and used by the accused persons is incorrect It has also contended that the lower court was wrong in holding that there was a delay in filing the application seeking the call records and original customer details With regard to the summoning of the witnesses the prosecution has contended that the lower court order to the extent it rejected the application for recalling some of the witnesses and allowing summoning of only three was illegal and improper and would cause prejudice in arriving at a right decision in the case The victim -- an actor who worked in Tamil Telugu and Malayalam films -- was abducted and allegedly molested inside her car for two hours by some of the accused who had forced their way into the vehicle on the night of February 17 2017 and later escaped in a busy area The entire act was filmed by some of the accused to blackmail the actress There are ten accused in the case and initially police arrested seven people Dileep was arrested subsequently and let out on bail later PTI HMP APR APR
New Delhi Nov 17 PTI The Delhi Polices North district carried out 51 combing exercises since January covering 39 areas in its limits officials said on Wednesday These 51 exercises were carried out since the beginning of the year up to October 24 in crime prone areas they saidDuring the period police took preventive action against 148924 people under Section 65 of the Delhi Police DP Act persons bound to comply with the reasonable directions of a police officerThey took charge of 20881 unclaimed properties under Section 66 of the DP Act duty of every police officer to take temporary charge of all unclaimed property and booked 740 cases under 40A of the Excise Act and under relevant sections of the CrPC the data said On Sunday combing and anti-street crime operation was conducted in three police stations of the North district according to the policeThe station house officer of Subzi Mandi police station along with 12 staff members and 21 outer force staff conducted the operation in Malka Ganj and Kabir Basti besides Subzi Mandi police saidA total of 25 suspicious vehicles were examined three were seized under Section 66 and 33 people were detained under Section 65 of the DP Act They were released after verification a senior police officer said Almost all roads of Kabir Basti and Malka Ganj were covered with foot patrolling from 6 pm to 9 pm he saidIn Civil Lines police station area the staff was briefed outside police post Majnu Ka Tila regarding the operation All its main exits especially I and J block where there were complaints of drug peddling were blocked Thereafter foot patrolling and door-to-door checking was carried out and suspicious persons or vehicles were checked the officer said During patrolling 45 vehicles were checked two vehicles deposited and action taken against 14 people under Section 65 of the DP Act Also three suspected drug peddlers were examined and a case was registered under Section 33 of the Excise Act police said Similarly in Wazirabad police station area patrolling was conducted in main market Sant Nagar and Jharoda market they said Police checked 109 vehicles and deposited a vehicle under Section 66 of the DP Act Action was taken against 40 people under Section 65 of the DP Act five cases were registered under Section 188 disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant of the Indian Penal Code and 53 tenant verifications were undertaken the police said PTI NIT CJ KJ
