Kohima (Nagaland) [India], April 30 (ANI): Ahead of the assembly election due next year, 21 out of 25 MLAs of the Naga People's Front (NPF) have joined Chief Minster Neiphiu Rio-led Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) in Nagaland.
Kohima Mar 24 PTI The Nagaland Assembly on Thursday passed the Rs 2423996 crore budget for the 2022-23 financial year by voice voteChief Minister Neiphiu Rio who also holds the finance portfolio had presented a Rs 221274 crore deficit budget for the fiscal on Tuesday With all 60 members of the House coming together to form the United Democratic Alliance UDA an opposition-less government in September 2021 to pursue an early solution to the Naga political issue NPI none of the members raised any cut motions nor was any clarification sought while passing the budgetHowever several members suggested that measures are needed to improve the states own revenue generation On the NPI minister Tongpang Ozukum said that the 60 elected representatives are the stakeholders of the issue The legislators are very serious and as concerned as the Naga negotiating groups for an early resolution to the vexed problem he said Speaker Sharingain Longkumer later adjourned the House sine die PTI NBS NN NN
Kohima Oct 21 PTI Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party NDPP leader S Keoshu Yimchunger was on Thursday sworn in as a member of the Assembly having won 58-Shamator-Chessore constituency uncontested Speaker Sharingain Longkumer administered the oath of office to Yimchunger at his chamber in the Assembly Secretariat here Yimchunger was the consensus candidate of United Democratic Alliance UDA which has no opposition in the state from 58-Shamator-Chessore UDA legislators representing NDPP along with leaders of other parties were present at the oath-taking ceremony PTI NBS RMS RMS
