Itanagar Dec 22 PTI Amid reports of China building villages along the border with Arunachal Pradesh the northeastern state has taken up a comprehensive project to build infrastructure in villages in borderlands to stop people from migrating from the remote ice-clad areasThe state government has submitted a Rs 4000-crore proposal to the union home ministry to help build infrastructure in all the border villagesThe proposal has been already cleared by the ministry after a meeting at the highest level and will now go before the Union Cabinet Once cleared border areas will be developed with all amenities so that migration can be stopped Chief Minister Pema Khandu said in an interview to PTIThe project aims at building roads health centers and educational institutions besides creating new safe water supply schemes and electrifying villages and upgrading mobile connectivity Khandu saidThe chief minister added that he had also requested the Centre for special 4G towers in the border villages This comes after reports that many border places catch Chinese mobile signals but are unable to connect with Indian mobile or data service providersKhandu has been strongly pitching for development of border areas to stop migration of border populace looking for a better quality of lifeThe Arunachal Pradesh government is also developing three model villages in the Indo-Tibet border areas one each in the eastern central and one western part of the stateDeputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein who is also in charge for finance department while presenting the state budget for 2021-22 had said I am happy to announce a major initiative to develop three Model Villages on a pilot basis in the Indo-Tibet-China border areas one each in the Eastern Central and one Western part of the State I propose to earmark a fund of Rs 30 Crore for the same These model villages would serve as pilot projects which will be further expanded to cover many more such villages The scheme would encompass innovative ways to dovetail social-economic-cultural needs of village life while establishing the model villages Khandu pointed outResponding to a question on media reports about China constructing a second village cluster of at least 60 buildings in the state approximately 6 km within India the chief minister informed that he had recently visited Shi-Yomi district and had interaction with the personnel of Army paramilitary forces and local residents of Monigong area where reportedly the village was builtThere is no such development as reported by the army paramilitary forces and local residents Whatever construction has happened is within the Tibet-China territory Khandu addedThe new enclave could be seen in images accessed by a national television channel from two major satellite imagery providers Maxar Technologies and Planet Labs and its exact location was clearly indicated on Bharatmaps a Government of India online map serviceThe reports claimed that the new enclave did not exist in 2019 according to the satellite images a year later it can be seen According to reports Chinese enclave was within Shi Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh and was constructed between March 2019 and February 2021Earlier in November this year a report of the US Department of Defense confirmed that in 2020 China built a large 100-home civilian village which it said was built on disputed territory between the Chinese Tibet Autonomous Region and Arunachal Pradesh in the eastern sector of the LACIn its report to the US Congress Pentagon said that in 2020 China had built a large 100-home civilian village inside disputed territory between Chinas Tibet Autonomous Region and Arunachal Pradesh state in the eastern sector of the LACArunachal Pradesh shares a 1080-km border with China 440 km with Myanmar and 160 km with Bhutan Twenty of the states 60 Assembly constituencies touch the international borders 13 of them with China PTI UPL JRC RBT RBT

Khandu blames local residents for lack of infrastructure development in Tato

Itanagar Nov 30 PTI Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has blamed the local residents of Tato in Shi Yomi district for lack of infrastructure development in the town despite being declared the district headquarters three years ago Khandu had inaugurated the new district with its headquarters at Tato on December 9 2018 along with the then Union MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein However Tato is yet to witness any creation of infrastructure and the offices of the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police function from Mechuka 50 km further up Referring to complaints raised by several local leaders during a public meeting at Tato on Monday Khandu said the complaints should be directed towards your own people an official communique said here As per sources during the creation of the district local people of Tato had agreed to give sufficient land for creation of office infrastructure for free but when the authorities actually reached to survey and start the groundwork the donated land was far less than what was required and assured Every financial year since creation of the district we have been keeping funds for development of Tato as the district headquarters and every year the fund went unused Now tell me who is responsible Khandu asked He gave the example of three other districts Pakke Kessang Leparada and Kamle - created along with Shi-Yomi where infrastructural development has begun in good stead but even a single brick is yet to be laid at Tato Khandu however assured that the government will continue to support all round development of the district no matter what I believe the land issues have been finally resolved We will certainly reallocate sufficient funds for development of Tato in particular and the district as a whole he assured while urging the people to monitor the quality of work on the ground Khandu who travelled by road to Tato from Mechuka expressed concern over slow progress in construction works The 50 km stretch road from Tato to Mechuka is divided into three packages Work is progressing well in only two packages Progress on one package is not satisfactory I will take the issue up at the highest level when I get back to the state capital he said He also assured to discuss with the Chief Secretary and Commissioner PWD with respect to the Tato to Bene road widening and maintenance He said work is yet to start as notification on land acquisition has not been issued till date I assure that the notification will be issued as soon as possible but people along the road have to cooperate Please remember many road projects in the state have suffered due to issues related to land compensations Khandu said Earlier the Chief Minister inaugurated the newly established circle headquarters of Rapum and one Health and Wellness Centre each at Rapum and Yapik villages besides laying the foundations for the BRTF road to Tato and a veterinary aid centre at Padusa village the communique added PTI UPL RG RG

12 fresh cases push Arunachals COVID-19 tally to 55043

Itanagar Oct 21 PTI Arunachal Pradeshs COVID-19 tally rose to 55043 on Thursday as 12 more people tested positive for the infection a senior health official said The northeastern states coronavirus death toll remained unchanged at 280 as no fresh fatality was recorded Arunachal Pradesh now has 138 active cases while 54625 people have recuperated from the disease thus far including 19 on Wednesday State Surveillance Officer Dr Lobsang Jampa said adding that the recovery rate stood at 9924 per cent West Kameng district has the highest number of active cases at 48 followed by Namsai 20 Tawang 15 and Shi Yomi 11 Jampa said The northeastern state has so far tested over 1177 lakh samples for COVID-19 including 1345 on Wednesday he said adding that the positivity rate stood at 089 per cent A total of 1271 lakh people have been inoculated thus far State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said PTI UPL ACD ACD
