New Delhi Mar 25 PTI A total of 106 projects have been envisaged under the Smart City Mission in the national capital and of these 86 have been completed while six are at the DPR stage according to the Economic Survey of Delhi 2021-22Launched in 2015 the Smart Cities Mission scheme has the objective of promoting cities that provide core infrastructure and give a decent quality of life to its citizens a clean and sustainable environment and application of smart solutionsThe survey report shared the status of its implementation in Delhi for which the New Delhi Municipal Council NDMC was selected on January 28 2016A Special Purpose Vehicle SPV namely NDMC Smart City Ltd NDMC SCL has been incorporated on 28th July 2016 with equity contribution from Government of India Gol and NDMC Total 106 projects envisaged under Smart City Mission and out of these 86 have been completed nine are on-going four are at tendering stage six projects are at DPR stage The DPR of one project has been approved the report saidThe economic survey for the financial year 2021-22 was presented in the Assembly by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on FridayThe Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs had released a total amount of Rs 294 crore Rs 2 crore Rs 8 crore Rs 186 crore Rs 98 crore to the Delhi government for the implementation of Smart City Mission As of now the SPV has received a grant of Rs 294 crore from the ministry and Rs 200 crore from the NDMC thereby bringing the seed capital to Rs 494 crore the report saidThe Economic Survey of Delhi 2021-22 report also said that more than 60 per cent of the households occupy one-room and two-room dwelling units in Delhi The UN describes average household size at 25 per room to be above the congestion level With average household size of 5 housing congestion is a matter of concernAbout one-third of Delhis population lives in sub-standard housing which includes 675 slum and JJ clusters 1797 unauthorised colonies old dilapidated areas and 362 villages These areas often lack safe adequate housing and basic services it addedAccording to the projections Delhi needs 24 lakh new housing units by the year 2021 MPD 2021 Of these 54 per cent are required for the EWS and LIG About 42 per cent housing units ie about 10 lakh are to be provided by densification and redevelopment of existing residential areas covering in-situ slum rehabilitation infill development regularisation and redevelopment of unauthorised colonies and by densification and up-gradation of old residential areas the report said PTI KND RC

Jammu Sep 28 PTI An Integrated Command and Control Centre ICCC is being established in Jammu city under the Smart Cities Mission to create an IT-based monitoring system bringing various smart services and solutions under one umbrella officials said on TuesdayThe Jammu Smart City Limited JSCL recently signed a contract agreement with Bharat Electronics Limited BEL for setting up the ICCC for Jammu city at a cost of Rs 53 crore they saidThe ICCC will integrate all civic and essential services into a single platform aimed at monitoring and addressing public issues in real time the officials saidChief Executive Officer of JSCL Avny Lavasa visited one of the two centres that will be set up in Jammu city on Monday they said adding that she enquired about the installation of the Intelligent Traffic Management System ITMSThe officials said the ICCC would serve as the nerve centre for various citizen-centric services and would lead to efficient monitoring and delivery of such servicesOnce operational they said the ICCC would have representatives from all departments stationed at the headquarters for prompt coordination and redressal of public issuesThrough an ICCC it is possible to quickly disseminate information to citizens on a real-time basis through variable message displays VMD and public address systems to facilitate faster action and better management the officials saidThey said the ambitious project also includes an ITMS to address and resolve a variety of traffic law enforcement challengesJammu Smart City is closely working with the JK Police to make the ITMS functional in the coming months the officials said PTI TAS AB IJT

Jaipur Sep 23 PTI The Rajasthan government has approved funds worth Rs 387 crore for Ajmer Kota and Udaipur under the Smart Cities MissionChief Minister Ashok Gehlot approved the proposal made by the local self government department in this regard The department had demanded release of Rs 30 crore each for Ajmer Kota and Udaipur and Rs 60 crore for Jaipur under the Mission Another proposal which was sent with a demand to release the central governments share of Rs 147 crore and the states share of Rs 90 crore allocated for the smart cities project was also met officials saidThus a total of Rs 387 crore has been approved for the projectPTI AGVN SRY
