Aurangabad Dec 27 PTI The Regional Transport Office in Aurangabad in Maharashtra has issued challans to 450 vehicle owners who were seen riding or driving without masks an official said on Monday Staffers from the local civic body click pictures of such persons and then send them to the RTO which issues challans the official told PTI adding that the initiative is based on an order of Collector Sunil Chavan The district information office said 1180 photographs have been sent to the RTO for action as on Monday RTO Sanjay Metrewar said We have issued challans to 450 vehicles based on their registration numbers The vehicles shall remain blacklisted until the fine of R5 500 for not wearing mask is paid Meanwhile Collector Chavan chaired a meeting to approach schools and colleges as part of the upcoming COVID-19 vaccination drive for the 15-18 age group an official said PTI AW BNM BNM BNM

Aurangabad Nov 23 PTI In a bid to ramp up anti-COVID-19 vaccination coverage in Maharashtras Aurangabad district authorities have ordered impounding of autorickshaws if their drivers are found to have not taken even a single jab Simultaneously tour and travel operators cannot sell tickets to passengers who are not inoculated as per the orders issued late Monday night by district collector Sunil Chavan These orders will come into effect from November 25 Aurangabad district in the Marathwada region is one of the laggard districts in terms of vaccination coverage The district collector had virtually attended a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this month of districts with low vaccination coverage As per official data out of the 3224677 targeted population in the Aurangabad district 6436 of people have received the first dose and 2778 the second dose till November 22 If it is found that drivers of autorickshaws have not taken even the first dose of vaccine the authorities concerned will impound the autorickshaw and impose a fine an official release said The new set of instructions comes days after the district administration directed operators of petrol pumps not to sell petrol to those who have not taken either dose of vaccine The latest order said autorickshaw drivers need to be vaccinated as many people use this mode of transport and thus there is a risk of the infection spreading The autorickshaw drivers are requested to take at least first jab If the driver is found to have not taken even a single dose during checks his autorickshaw will be seized and penalty will be imposed the release said adding the regional transport officer will be the monitoring authority It said vaccination certificates of labourers hotel owners and other eateries will be checked by the deputy commissioner labour If it is found that workers and owner of the shop or commercial establishment have not received even a single jab such shop or establishment will be sealed If a non-vaccinated employee is found in a liquor shop the shop will also face action through the excise department an official said Authorities had earlier this month said that Aurangabad ranks 26th in terms of vaccination among 36 districts in Maharashtra Struggling to expand the vaccination coverage the district administration had earlier directed fair price shops gas agencies and petrol pumps to check the vaccination certificates of customers The collector had recently also ordered that people who have not taken a single dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will not be allowed entry at historic sites and monuments in Aurangabad PTI AW NSK NSK

Aurangabad Sep 28 PTI The water storage in Jayakwadi Dam in Maharashtras Aurangabad district on Tuesday reached a little over 87 per cent of capacity on the back of extremely heavy rains in the region over the past couple of days an official said The dam built on the Godavari river in the districts Paithan taluka has a storage capacity of 2909 million metre cube The water inflow of the dam which was 15481 cusecs cubic foot per second in the morning on Tuesday reached 28753 cusecs in the afternoon and 64653 cusecs by 6pm he said Meanwhile in a video message released during the day Collector Sunil Chavan said such heavy rain-fed inflow of water into the dam may result in it reaching full capacity in the next five days He asked people in villages in the vicinity and along the banks of the river to shift to safer places The collector said storage in Shivna Takli Dam in the districts Kannad area was also full and water discharge may be required to maintain its level PTI AW BNM BNM BNM

Aurangabad Aug 31 PTI Heavy rains left many areas in Kannad taluka of Maharashtras Aurangabad district inundated and also caused a landslide which blocked the Autram ghat bordering Aurangabad and Jalgaon districts officials said on Tuesday By the evening the traffic congestion in the ghat was cleared while the road clearing work is underway on a war footing an official said We have cleared the traffic in the landslide area by bringing down the vehicles which were stuck We have undertaken the road clearing work on a war footing There is a chance that the ghat road may be cleared for traffic movement in the next couple of days Aurangabad collector Sunil Chavan told PTI He said farms in Bhildari village were severely damaged in the rain The lake in the village was also damaged Soil of farms and pipelines was washed away At some places farm wells also suffered damage along with crops A survey of the damage and crop loss is undertaken he said adding that cash aid will be given to the people who have suffered losses due to waterlogging at their residences Out of eight circles in Kannad taluka seven have received excess rainfall of over 65 mm in the last 24 hours an official had said earlier in the day Crops losses have been reported at Naagad and Saygavhan villages while rainwater entered houses in Pishor circle he said Meanwhile a truck transporting cattle fell to nearly 100 feet in the Autram Ghat under the jurisdiction of Chalisgaon rural police station The truck transporting buffaloes fell nearly 100 feet from the road A search is on for the truck driver inspector K K Patil from Jalgaon police had said Excess rainfall was recorded in parts of Hadgaon Budruk and nearby villages in Pathri of the Parbhani district leading to loss of crops and property an official said In a rain-related mishap two women drowned in a canal in Sawargaon of Loha taluka in the neighbouring Nanded district in the Marathwada region on Monday an official said Mankabai Dagadgave 52 was swept away by heavy currents in a canal while a search is on for Parvatibai Dagadgave 45 whose body is yet to be recovered he added PTI AW ARU KRK NSK NSK
