Srinagar Mar 18 PTI The migration of Kashmiri Pandits is a tragic chapter of Kashmirs history but showcasing bloodshed for political gains is dangerous for the country and the people CPIM leader M Y Tarigami said on FridayHis remarks come in the wake of controversy over the recently-released movie The Kashmir Files which is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in the 1990sTalking to reporters here Tarigami said there is a need to objectively project the tragedies suffered by the people in KashmirIt is our misfortune that Kashmir has been for the last so many decades continuously going through a tragic situation and the most shameful incident which has caused a dent to the identity of Kashmir is the migration by a very important part of our society the Kashmiri Pandits who left their homes because of fear There is no doubt that is a tragic chapter of our history he saidThe CPIM leader however said the fact is also that the violent forces did not single out people of any particular religionI only have one thing to ask to those elements who are trading in the Kashmiri blood by selling it in various markets that please stop Whoever was killed whichever religion he belonged to but he was a Kashmiri he saidReferring to various incidents of killings in the Valley in the past Tarigami said while in the 1998 Wandhama massacre 23 Pandits were killed the Gaw Kadal massacre in 1990 cannot be forgottenHe called for establishing a truth and reconciliation commissionWhile our innocent brothers and sisters from the minority community were killed in Budgam who killed the passengers of a bus in Kupwara If an innocent sister from Pandit community was raped and killed in Sopore then what happened in Kunan Poshpora Tarigami saidIf Hindus and Muslims were killed our brothers and sisters from Sikh community were killed in Chattisinghpora in 2000 as well I want the PM to show boldness and constitute a truth and reconciliation commission like after apartheid in Africa to know who was killed and by whom While those killed will not return but accountability will be established Their families will come to know who killed them he saidThe CPIM leader said that to showcase the bloodshed for political gains is dangerous for the country the people and for KashmirI want to say this to the people in power that Kashmir is not a piece of land but Kashmir is the name of a civilisation We have a history of 5000 years which cannot be erased Our identity cannot be erased by explosives either from here or across I want to appeal the BJP not to divide my tears and the tears of my friends Tarigami added PTI SSB SSB ANB ANB

Jammu Dec 21 PTI The Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration PAGD on Tuesday met here and one of its senior leaders said the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the recommendation of the Delimitation Commission set up to redraw the union territorys assembly seats will be discussedThe meeting of the alliance of five Jammu and Kashmir-based mainstream political parties including the National Conference NC and the PDP comes after the commission is learnt to have proposed six additional seats for the Jammu region and one for the Kashmir Valley in its Paper 1 discussed with the PAGDs constituents on MondayThis is the second meeting of the PAGD in Jammu since its formation in 2019 The amalgam held a meeting in November last year as well The meeting of the leaders of the alliance in being held at the Bhatandi residence of NC president and PAGD chairperson Farooq Abdullah here The PAGD seeks the restoration of the special status of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir that which was revoked by the Centre in August 2019 PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and CPIM leader M Y Tarigami is also attended the meeting which took place even as a small group of Rashtriya Bajrang Dal activists led by their president Rakesh Bagrangi held a protest a few kilometres away from the meeting venue We are meeting here to discuss the prevailing situation and the draft prepared by the delimitation commission Tarigami who is the PAGDs chief spokesperson told reporters before taking part in the meeting The alliances political parties have already presented their views over the recommendation of the Delimitation Commission which we believe is meant to further divide the communities and regions and will create uncertainty the CPIM leader said The Valley-based mainstream political parties have expressed dismay over the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission in Jammu and Kashmir alleging that it seems the exercise was carried out in furtherance of the BJPs political agenda It is highly divisive and unacceptable Tarigami said Amid chants of shot the traitors Bagrangi said they are protesting against the PAGD leadership for holding their meeting in Jammu as they are a group of traitors They are only speaking against the nation and pressuring the government to talk with Pakistan he said and condemned the alliances stand on the delimitation recommendation We were in favour of all the seven seats going to Jammu region to end discrimination with the region he said PTI TAS AB ANB ANB

Jammu Dec 21 PTI CPIM leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has termed the draft recommendation of the Delimitation Commission for Jammu and Kashmir as divisive and unacceptable claiming that it is another step to further disempower Kashmiris politically He said the distribution of newly created assembly constituencies with six going to Jammu and only one to Kashmir is not justified and it will increase gaps between regions and communities The constitution of Delimitation Commission under JK Reorganisation Act-2019 in itself is questionable as the Reorganisation Act has been challenged in the Supreme Court he said The constitution of commission was akin to contempt of the court as how can the Government of India do so when the matter is sub-judice he said The CPIM had recently moved an application in the apex court for early hearing of the writ petition filed in 2019 against unconstitutional and undemocratic revocation of special status of JK under Article 370 and JK Reorganisation Act-2019 We had apprised the apex court that despite the matter being sub-judice the Government of India was taking irreversible steps which were harmful for the interests of people of JK Tarigami said He said they will continue with their legal and political fight against the arbitrary unconstitutional and undemocratic decisions of the BJP government PTI AB CK
