New Delhi Mar 24 PTI A fire broke out in a pandal in northwest Delhis Rohini area on Thursday afternoon police saidThe pandal owner sustained minor injuries in the incident they saidAround 143 pm a PCR call was received about the fire that broke out in a pandal set up on DDA land Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohini Pranav Tayal saidImmediately a message was relayed to the fire brigade and 14 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the blaze he saidSome workers were inside the pandal when the fire broke out but they managed to get out in time Tayal saidThe pandal owner Upender Singh who was also present at the spot sustained minor injuries on his right arm in the incident An investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the fire he saidThe fire was doused around 330 pm the police saidThe pandal is situated near a fire station and our team reached the spot after seeing the smoke rising from it Two cars and a motorcycle were damaged in the fire We will conduct an inspection to check whether anyone was trapped inside once the heat reduces a senior fire department official said PTI NIT DIV DIV

New Delhi Oct 22 PTI Delhi Police has arrested a 44-year-old man from Rohinis Sector-24 and recovered 1115 quintals of banned fire crackers from his possession a senior officer said on Friday The accused has been identified as Amit Mittal who is a resident of Narela and owns of a mobile shop there police said Mittal was arrested on Thursday after police raided his warehouse acting on a tip-off Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohini Pranav Tayal said He was in the process of unloading banned fire crackers into his rented warehouse he said Mittal failed to provide any legal document and valid license for firecrackers He stored them in a residential area which can be hazardous to the local residents Tayal said A case was registered against Mittal under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Codes Explosives Act at Begumpur police station he said Considering the rise in pollution around Diwali every year the Delhi government announced a complete ban on sale and storing of firecrackers on October 1 Last year the National Green Tribunal too had imposed a similar ban across the National Capital Region PTI NIT NIT VN VN

New Delhi Sep 17 PTI The Delhi Police has arrested two men from Rajasthan for allegedly extorting money from people by threatening to post their nude or morphed videos and pictures on social media platforms a senior officer said on FridayThe accused Jahul 25 and Minaj 23 hailing from Mewat area of Rajasthans Bharatpur district have extorted money from more than 250 people till date Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohini Pranav Tayal saidThe arrests were made on the basis of a complaint by a Delhi-based man at the Begamupur Police Station in July this yearAccording to the FIR the complainant had accepted the friend request of a woman on a social media platform They exchanged their contact numbers and started chatting on WhatsApp the officer saidWhile chatting on WhatsApp the woman provoked the complainant to perform a sexual act which was recorded by her She then began to threaten him and asked him to pay Rs 15000 to get the video deletedWhen the complainant paid the said amount he got a phone call from another person who claimed to be a cyber cell officer from Durgapuri The person told him to get the obscene video deleted from YouTube and other social media sitesWhen the complainant contacted the YouTuber purported to have posted the video he too demanded a sum from the complainant to delete the video from the video streaming platformUsing call detail record analysis and technical surveillance a raid was conducted in Mewat and both the accused were arrested from there Tayal saidThree mobile phones used to make extortion calls were seized from their possession he addedPTI AMP VN SRY
