Pune Jan 29 PTI An IAS officer was arrested on Saturday in connection with alleged manipulation of the results of the Maharashtra governments Teachers Eligibility Test TET held in 2020 an official said hereSushil Khodwekar 47 now posted as deputy secretary with the agriculture department had allegedly taken money from some of the accused and ordered removal of a firm from the blacklist he saidHe was arrested from Thane by Pune Polices cyber wing which is probing the case This is the 13th arrest in the caseOn Friday the investigators had said the marks of 7800 TET-2020 candidates were manipulated by the accused for money The test was part of the recruitment process for teachers postsThose arrested include Tukaram Supe commissioner now suspended of the Maharashtra State Council of Examinations MSCE Pritesh Deshmukh director of G A Software which was responsible for conducting the test and Abhishek Sawrikar a consultant with the education departmentKhodwekar posted with the education department when the scam unfolded allegedly received lakhs of rupees from the other accused said inspector Kumar Ghadge of the Pune cyber police stationG A Software had been blacklisted by the government earlier But Khodwekar allegedly gave instructions to Supe to remove it from the blacklist he saidPritesh Deshmukh and Supe through co-accused Manoj Dongare allegedly paid lakhs of rupees to Khodwekar the official saidTechnical analysis of mobile phones of Sawarikar and Deshmukh also threw some light on Khodwekars involvement said inspector GhadgeA court remanded the IAS officer in police custody till January 31 and further probe is on he said PTI COR NP KRK KRK

Pune Jan 29 PTI Police have arrested an IAS officer from Thane district of Maharashtra in connection with the alleged malpractices in the results of the state-wide Teachers Eligibility Test TET held in 2020 an official said here on Saturday The bureaucrat Sushil Khodwekar has been arrested from Thane He will be produced in a court today the Pune police official said With this the number of persons arrested in the case has gone up to 13 he said The city police had said on Friday that the marks of as many as 7800 TET-2020 candidates were allegedly manipulated in exchange of money Earlier 12 persons including Tukaram Supe Commissioner now suspended of the Maharashtra State Council of Examinations MSCE were arrested in connection with the alleged tampering of the TET results Pritesh Deshmukh director of G A Software firm which was responsible for conducting the exam and Abhishek Sawrikar a consultant with the education department are also among those arrested Over Rs 4 crore in cash gold ornaments and other documents related to the fixed deposits had been recovered in the case in the past police have said PTI COR NP NP

Pune Dec 25 PTI Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday warned officials against taking advantage of their posts like in case of the alleged malpractices in the Teachers Eligibility Test TET and asked them to ensure proper functioning of educational institutions Pawar was addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the Maharashtra State Faculty Development Academy MSFDA here The deputy chief minister referred to the recent arrest of Maharashtra State Council of Examination MSEC commissioner Tukaram Supe in connection with the alleged irregularities in TET and warned officials not to take advantage of their position The state government will help provide infrastructure for institutes and organisations but it is the responsibility of officials to improve and ensure smooth functioning of the same he said There have been instances where people who have been given responsibility have taken advantage of it I also mentioned in the state Assembly that people involved in irregularities will face action Nobody has the right to play with the future of studentscandidates Pawar said referring to the alleged TET malpractice The MSFDA will improve the quality of education in the state he said while urging state Education Minister Uday Samant to visit the institute and upgrade it at regular intervals Speaking at the event Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray stressed on the importance of the spirit of inquiry and said that asking questions has become a crime in the country In other countries research is carried out in schools and colleges while in India it happens at research institutes There is a need to stress on the spirit of inquiry in the new education system which will allow students to ask questions In our country asking questions has become a crime whether it is in a classroom or elsewhere Thackeray said PTI COR ARU ARU

Mumbai Dec 24 PTI The demand by striking MSRTC staffers for merger of the undertaking with the state government was not acceptable Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar told the Assembly on Friday A dominant section of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation employees have been on strike since October 28 demanding that the undertaking be merged with the state government which would give them better salaries and greater job security No matter who is in power this demand is not acceptable The state government has already increased the basic pay of the employees by Rs 5000 The MSRTC employees shouldnt take any extreme step like the mill workers strike which destroyed textile mills in Mumbai he said in the House Pawar however added that the MVA government will not let the situation come to that stage The deputy CM also said the demand for decrease in VAT on petrol and diesel cannot be accepted because of revenue loss Pawar added a resolution will be tabled in the Assembly on Monday about not holding panchayat samiti elections till the OBC quota is restored Giving an update on the Teachers Eligibility Test TET paper leak case Pawar said eight people have been arrested by Pune police so far PTI MR BNM BNM BNM

Pune Dec 21 PTI Pune Police have arrested Maharashtra State Council of Examinations MSCE former commissioner Sukhadev Dere in connection with alleged malpractices in the 2018 Teachers Eligibility Test an official said on Tuesday Dere was taken into custody late Monday night based on information received by police during an ongoing investigation into the alleged irregularities in the 2020 Teachers Eligibility Test TET in which MSCE commissioner Tukaram Supe was arrested last week said the official from the Pune polices cyber and economic offences wing A separate case has been registered against Dere for his alleged involvement in malpractices in the 2018 TET Further investigation is going on he said Supe and another person had been arrested by the Pune police for allegedly taking money to change the results of some candidates so that they can clear the TET officials earlier said The police had also recovered unaccounted cash and gold ornaments worth over Rs 2 crore from Supe they said The alleged malpractices in the TET came to the light during the investigation into the bid to leak a paper of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority MHADA examination in which six people have already been arrested police said PTI COR GK GK
