Thane Sep 28 PTI An offence has been registered against a 24-year-old man for allegedly abetting the suicide of a relative with whom he was having an affair in Maharashtras Thane district an official said on Tuesday The Railway police have registered a case under section 306 abetment to suicide against Jaidev Virale a resident of Neral senior inspector Sambaji Laxman Yadav of Karjat Railway police station said The victim a resident of Badlapur was found dead on the railway tracks between Badlapur and Wangani on September 4 following which a case of accidental death was registered the official said A probe revealed that the victim who was married had been having an affair with the accused he said The victims family claimed that the accused had been harassing her due to which she took the extreme step the official said adding that the police are hunting for the absconding accused PTI COR ARU ARU

Thane Sep 28 PTI Police have arrested a womans sister and two other relatives for allegedly stealing Rs 1085 lakh cash from her house in Maharashtras Thane district an official said on Tuesday The incident took place on September 4 after the victim had sold her house and kept the cash at her present residence in Mumbra town here She lodged a police complaint alleging that some unidentified persons broke into her house and stole the money Mumbra police stations senior police inspector Madhukar Kad said The police on September 6 registered a case against unidentified persons under Indian Penal Code Sections 380 theft and 454 lurking house-trespass or house-breaking in order to commit an offence he said They checked the CCTV footage of the area and subsequently arrested one of the accused identified as the victims brother-in-law On the day of the incident the arrested accused had made a WhatsApp call to someone and later deleted the record from his mobile phone The police sent the phone for forensic testing which revealed that he had made the call to his wife who is the sister of the complainant the official said After further probe into the case the police on September 22 arrested the complainants sister and the next day nabbed her uncle for their involvement in the theft he said They also recovered Rs 935 lakh out of the stolen cash from the accused he added PTI COR GK GK

Thane Sep 27 PTI An oil tanker hit a road divider and then collided with four vehicles injuring three occupants of a car and disrupting traffic movement on an busy road in Maharashtras Thane city a civic official said on Monday The accident took place around 1030 pm on Sunday near Gaimukh on Ghodbunder Road the citys main arterial road Thane Municipal Corporations regional disaster management cell RDMC chief Santosh Kadam said The tanker driver apparently lost control over the wheels following which the vehicle first crashed into a road divider and then jumped on to the opposite lane where it collided with three cars and a truck he said The impact of the collision was so severe that the tanker drivers cabin got ripped off from the vehicle and came crashing down on the roof one of the cars trapping its occupants the official said After being alerted firemen local police and RDMC teams rushed to the spot They managed to pull out those trapped in the car after about an hour he said Three car occupants aged 18 30 and 45 were injured and admitted to a private hospital in Mira Road area the official said The other vehicles involved in the accident were also badly damaged he said The accident and bad condition of the road resulted in heavy traffic jam in the area he added PTI COR GK GK

Thane Sep 26 PTI A 13-year-old girl was abducted and molested by a 21-year-old man who took her to a village in Bhiwandi tehsil of Thane district in Maharashtra police said on Sunday adding the accused was arrested and the girl rescued The girl was abducted from Vishnu Nagar in Dombivali also in Thane district on September 20 following which a case was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences POCSO Act a police release said Police traced the accused Akshay Patil to Kahler village in Bhiwandi He was arrested in Thane The girl was rescued from the village on September 23 and handed over to her parents Recently a 15-year-old girl also from Dombivali was raped by 33 men over the last eight months Police have so far arrested 29 men and detained two minors while two others are still on run an official said adding police seized the autorickshaw which was used by the accused to transport the victim from one place to another PTI COR NSK NSK

Thane Sep 25 PTI A 32-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his brother following a quarrel at a village in Maharashtras Thane district police said on Saturday The incident took place at a hotel in Umbarmad village in Khardi in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday the station house officer of Shahapur police station said The accused Ravindra Kadam 36 had an argument with his younger brother Rajendra and in a fit of rage stabbed the latter multiple times with a knife he said The victim sustained severe stab wounds and was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead the official said adding that the police were alerted by locals who heard the commotion A case has been registered in this regard and the accused was arrested under relevant sections of the IPC the official said PTI COR ARU ARU
