Ranchi Feb 24 PTI Five girls and a boy who were allegedly trafficked from Jharkhands Sahibganj and Godda districts were rescued from Delhi an official statement said here on ThursdayEarlier this week five girls trafficked from Gumla district had been rescued from Delhi after a tip-off to Integrated Resource-cum-Rehabilitation Centre IRRC on its toll-free numberNodal Officer IRRC Nachiketa said one of the rescued children Seema Kumari name changed was sold four times in Delhi by her brother-in-law after being brought to the national capitalAnother girl Aarti Kumari name changed was handed over to the human trafficker by her family members This girl has been tortured mentally and physically in various ways The rescued boy was also sold by his uncle the IRRC officer saidA Dode Director Women and Child Development Department said he has issued strict instructions to District Social Welfare Officers and Child Protection Officers of the districts to ensure rehabilitation of rescued children in their native placesAll rescued children will be linked with various schemes of the Jharkhand government to prevent them from becoming victims of human trafficking again Dode saidJharkhands Resident Commissioner in Delhi M L Meena said it has been ensured that all such children are rescued and rehabilitated PTI NAM MM MM
New Delhi Jan 20 PTI The estimated project cost of the new Parliament building may increase by more than Rs 200 crore due to higher expenditure on steel electronics and other works and the CPWD is expected to get the Lok Sabha Secretariats approval for the enhancement sources said on ThursdayEarlier this month the Central Public Works Department CPWD the nodal agency for the construction of new parliament building had sought in-principal approval of the LS Secretariat for the cost enhancement the sources told PTIThey said that after the enhancement the project is expected to cost around Rs 1200 croreThe new Parliament building project was awarded to the Tata Projects in 2020 for Rs 971 crore The government had set October 2022 deadline for the building and aimed to hold the winter session this year in the new buildingThe sources said the CPWD have given the reasons behind the expected rise in the cost which include higher cost of steel as building is now constructed as per the norms of seismic zone 5The cost on electronics is also expected rise as provisions are being made also for a modern audio-visual system including tablets on the tables of MPs in both Houses of Parliament the CPWD has said according to the sourcesSimilarly high-end technology devices are being considered for using in meeting rooms and chambers of ministers the sources saidAnother reason is the fact that the project developer has to comply with several directives of the Supreme Court such as all the earth excavated from the project site needed to be transported to the proposed Eco Park in Badarpur and not soldThe Lok Sabha Secretariat received request from CPWD seeking in-principal approval proposal for enhancement in cost of construction of new parliament building earlier this month and it is likely to get approval a source said PTI JTR TIR TIR

New Delhi Dec 23 PTI In view of the rising Covid cases and Omicron threat the Delhi government will increase daily test capacity to three lakh and strengthen home isolation module to handle one lakh positive cases each day Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on ThursdayEarlier in the day he reviewed the Covid situation and the Omicron threat in Delhi in a meeting with his ministers and senior officersThe chief minister said Omicron was characterised by a fast spread and mild infection and asked people not to panic as the Delhi government was prepared to deal with it if there was a surge in the number of infectionsSince Omicron infection does not require hospitalisation in most cases the home-isolation module is being strengthened and an agency was being hired for it he saidThe capacity to follow up patients in home isolation will be increased from the current 1100 cases daily to one lakh each day As soon someone tests positive a phone call will be made to the person and the next day a medical team will visit the person to provide him with a kit containing medicines and other items Kejriwal saidAlso patients in home isolation will be counselled by the doctors for 10 days said the chief ministerThe government will also increase daily Covid test capacity from around 60000 to 70000 at present to three lakh per day A two-month stock of required medicines will also be maintained he added PTI VIT GVS NSD NSD
