Appendiceal cancer gets its own preclinical model

28-Nov-2022
Appendiceal cancer (malignancies of the appendix, a small tissue pouch that is part of the gastrointestinal tract) is very rare, occurring in perhaps one or two people per 1 million per year. Prognoses are mixed, with a 5-year survival rate of 67 to 97 per cent for low-grade tumours detected early, but much lower for advanced cases that may have spread to other parts of the body.

Do you know small intestinal microbiome prevents obesity and type 2 diabetes in our gut?

11-Jul-2022
Washington [US], July 11 (ANI): According to a new study each person's gut is home to 500 to 1,000 different bacterial species, which might total 100,000 trillion germs. Researchers from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine used mouse models to examine how diet and feeding habits affect these intestinal microbes and the health of the hosts, particularly with obesity and type 2 diabetes.
