A new University of Washington study led by Elizabeth Miller reports that throughout Earth's ancient history, there were several periods of time when many fish actually favoured the cold, dark, barren waters of the deep sea.
Seattle (Washington) [US], January 18, (ANI): Accidentally trapping sharks, seabirds, marine mammals, sea turtles and other animals in fishing gear has been one of the biggest barriers to making fisheries more sustainable around the world. Marine protected areas -- sections of the ocean set aside to conserve biodiversity -- are used, in part, to reduce the unintentional catch of such animals, among other conservation goals.
