New Delhi Mar 20 PTI Two men died of suffocation in the basement of a shop in east Delhis Gandhi Nagar area on Sunday police said They said an incident was reported to them at 1207 pm about two men getting trapped in a shop basement The shop R K Trading company is located on main road in Kailash Nagar area and deals in assembling of cycle rickshaws meant for carrying goods When police reached the shop it met Abrar one of the workers there According to Abrar he along with Vaibhav Khaturia the son of the owner and another worker had reached the shop around 1030 am They started their work and needed some wooden planks for assembling So Abrar went to fetch rims said a senior police officer While he was gone the owners 22-year-old son and a 40-year-old Zakir went down in the basement of the shop and slipped on the makeshift stairs made with loose planks the officer said When Abrar came back after 5 minutes he saw the two men stuck inside in an unconscious state police said He called the police immediately and shouted for help Both men were taken out with the help of locals and police and were rushed to a hospital but couldnt survive Deputy Commissioner of Police Shahdara R Sathiyasundram said When it was inspected the basement was found to be very narrow and suffocating with a strong smell of chemical police said Later it was conjectured that basement may have been sprayed with chloropyrifos a termite resistance chemical police said PTI NIT NIT VN VN
New Delhi Oct 23 PTI A Delhi court has pulled up some police officials for creating fear in the mind of a man about his false implication and arrest in a case and asked why proceedings should not be initiated against them for their conduct Complainant Zakir approached the court alleging that a police official of Delhis Dayalpur police station harassed him and his father and threatened to arrest the entire family without disclosing the contents of an FIR a claim refuted by the police In a reply filed to his plea the police submitted that no cognizable offence was found committed by Zakir and no FIR has been registered against him adding that Zakirs father was not harassed rather he was intimated about the complaint Noting that the police did not adopt the correct procedure Additional Sessions Judge Sunil Chaudhary said that the act of the police officials deputed in the police station created fear in Zakirs mind about his false implication and arrest and forced him to approach the court Thus considering the facts let show cause notice be issued to the officials of PS Dayalpur as to why proceedings be not initiated against them for payment of compensation to the applicant for their conduct the judge said in an order dated October 22 He went on to say that under the law if a complaint discloses a cognizable offence then the police is duty-bound to register an FIR and investigate the allegations but according to the polices reply the complaint did not disclose any cognizable offence in those events if Station House Officer was of the impression that the complaint needs investigation then he has to seek the permission to investigate the matter from the Court concerned but he did not adopted the said procedure ASJ Chaudhary added Notably Zakir said that his father received a call from an official of the Dayalpur police station on October 14 and was threatened to come to the police station and when his father enquired about the FIR he did not disclose the same The complainant through his lawyer submitted that the police official harassed him and his father unnecessarily and that on October 15 some police officials visited his residence but did not disclose the purpose of the visit and threatened to arrest the entire family However the police stated that on October 14 a man named Naimuddin gave a complaint about quarrels and beatings against Zakir Father of the applicant has not been harassed and no threat has been given rather he was intimated about the complaint given against him the prosecutor told the court PTI AAK SMN SMN
Mumbai Sep 19 PTI The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad has arrested one more person in connection with the Pakistan-supported terror module busted by Delhi Police recently an ATS official said on Sunday The man whose identity was not revealed by the ATS was nabbed from Mumbra town in neighbouring Thane district on Saturday night after information received about him from Zakir Hussain Shaikh 45 an accused who was arrested by the ATS from Jogeshwari in Mumbai on Friday he said Based on information revealed by Shaikh the state ATS conducted multiple raids and nabbed the man from Mumbra the official said adding that they were probing his role into the terror module The Delhi Polices Special Cell on Tuesday busted a terror module with the arrest of six men including two terrorists trained by Pakistans intelligence agency ISI The module was allegedly planning to carry out blasts across the country Jan Mohammad Shaikh one of the six suspects is a resident of Dharavi in Mumbai Zakir Shaikh whose name cropped up during the interrogation of arrested suspects was in touch with Jan Mohammed Shaikh sources earlier said A separate FIR under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act was registered against Zakir Shaikh in Mumbai The ATS told a Mumbai court on Saturday that Zakir Shaikh was arrested in connection with a criminal conspiracy to carry out terror attacks using explosives in Maharashtra and elsewhere He was in touch with one Anthony from a neighbouring country and the ATS wanted to find out who was this person and what was his role in the conspiracy it had said The court on Saturday sent Zakir Shaikh in the ATS custody till September 20 PTI ZA GK GK
