Tallest woman in the world takes her first flight after airline removes six seats

The tallest woman in the world took her first flight ever after Turkish Airlines moved six economy seats to make room for her. Rumeysa Gelgi, whose 7-foot height is included in the Guinness Book of World Records, traveled on Turkey’s national airline for the whole of the 13-hour trip.

Since the 25-year-old has Weaver syndrome, a rare genetic ailment that promotes rapid development, she normally utilizes a wheelchair to move around.

The airline turned six other seats into a stretcher for her so she could board the flight from Istanbul, Turkey, to San Francisco, California.

In a social media post, Gelgi described the voyage to her 19.500 followers. She assured everyone that although this was her first flight, it wouldn’t be her last. She thanked everyone who has been supportive of her during the process.

She said: “A flawless journey from start to finish… this was my first plane ride but it certainly won’t be my last… a heartfelt thank you to each and every person who has been a part of my journey.”

Gelgi, who works in the technology software industry, says she will be in the US for at least six months to further her career and collaborate with Guinness World Records.
