Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the Ladli Laxmi Yojana 2.0 at Ravindra Bhawan, Bhopal on Wednesday. On the occasion, he said that he was very happy as Ladli Laxmis were entering college.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], November 2 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that he is very happy as ‘Ladli Laxmis’ of the state are entering into college for higher studies.
CM Chouhan made the above remark during the inaugural function of Ladli Laxmi Yojna 2.0 at Ravindra Bhawan in Bhopal on Wednesday.
In this Yojana, there is a provision to give an incentive amount of Rs 25000 in two installments to ‘Ladli Laxmi’ girls of the state for their higher education.
Chouhan also distributed the first installment of the incentive amount of Rs 12,500 to 1437 Ladli girls for higher education on the occasion.
CM Chouhan narrated the story behind the starting Ladli Laxmi Yojana and Ladli Laxmi Yojna 2.0. He said, “I have born in Jait, a small village in Madhya Pradesh. The population of the village was around 1000. During my childhood, I saw that people used to celebrate and distribute sweets when a baby boy was born in their houses. At the same time, they get upset when a baby girl is born in their family.”
“Once I was delivering a speech at a wedding function and I said ‘Beti Hai to Kal Hai, Beti Ko Aane Do (If there is a daughter then there is a future, let the daughter come)’. Suddenly a grandmother stood up and asked you will get the dowry to the daughter. At that moment it came to my mind that if a daughter is born then she should be a Lakhpati. I made up my mind for the scheme and started the scheme after I become the Chief Minister of the state,” he said.
Ladli Laxmi Yojana was started in 2007 with the intention of making daughters a boon and not a burden in the state. Many states have adopted this scheme of MP. Today it has been more than 15 years since the scheme was launched. In the initial phase, the provision for education up to the 12th was kept in the scheme for the daughters who became Ladli. The government provide Rs 2000 to every girl who enters Class 6th. Similarly, Rs 4000 on getting admission to Class 9th and Rs 6000 for Class 11th and Class 12th.
Now, Ladli Laxmi Yojana 2.0 has been started for their higher studies and for the bright future and self-reliance of these daughters.
He further said, “If any girl passes competitive exams like NEET, JEE Mains, CLAT and other prominent exams and get admissions into IIT, IIM, MBBS, Medical institution or any management courses then ‘Mama’ will pay their fees, parents do not have to worry”.
He also appealed to parents to give freedom to their daughters. The government has reserved 30% of seats for daughters in police recruitment and 50% reservation to contest elections.
CM Chouhan also warned the Ladli Laxmis to be aware of social media where people fraud. “I am your Mama that is why saying it with authority. MP has decided those who try to harm daughters will be hanged. Whoever dare to violate them, their house will be bulldozed”. (ANI)
