Bidar: A mob that was part of the Dussehra Procession in Karnataka’s Bidar, entered a heritage Mahmud Gawan Masjid & Madrasa. On Wednesday night, they were heard shouting slogans and performing puja in a corner of the Madarsa. Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen slammed BJP for this incident.

A police case has been registered against 9 people. Four are arrested by police in this case. If appropriate action will not be taken in the case, Muslim organizations have threatened protest.
Police stated that the mob broke the lock of the madrasa and entered it. Before performing puja they shouted “Jai Shri Ram” and “Hindu Dharam Jai” slogans, standing on the steps of the madrassa. Videos showing a huge crowd on the steps, trying to get inside have gone viral on Social Media.
As per the complaint filed by Mohammed Shafiuddin, a mosque committee member, the incident took place when a procession was passing near the place in the early hours of Thursday. It was also alleged that the mob had “intentions to disturb peace, harmony and create violence” in this district headquarters town.
A mob of around 60 people barged into the archaeologically-significant monument by breaking the lock of the gate. ‘Gulal’ was also thrown inside the premises, it was alleged.
When security personnel deployed there raised his voice to stop them he was threatened by the mob.
Several Muslim Organisations have objected and are protesting against this act.

Owaisi accused BJP of promoting such incidents to “demean Muslims.” He tweeted, “Visuals from historic Mahmud Gawan masjid & madrasa, Bidar, #Karnataka (5th October). The BJP has been criticized for using some of the states as a testing ground for intercommunal experiments. When Hindu organizations insisted on barring Muslim vendors from temple fairs, the claims flared up following the controversy surrounding the hijab ban in educational institutions.
In August, Ganesh Chaturthi was celebrated at Hubballi’s Idgah ground.
