New Delhi: In the State Assembly when Bharatiya Janata Party questioned the Bihar government’s liquor ban policy, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar lost his cool. Leader of Opposition in Bihar assembly, Vijay Kumar Sinha, raised a question on the liquor ban. He raised this question in the Assembly in wake of deaths due to spurious liquor in the Saran district.
In Bihar legislative assembly, the hooch tragedy caused a big uproar. Bharatiya Janata Party termed this tragedy a result of complete failure of prohibition in the state. Congress demanded a review of the prohibition.
Irked enough by the opposition raising its voice and questioning the matter, Nitish Kumar was heard shouting, “Arey, tum bol rahe ho… (Oh, you are to speak now…)”.
Over Vijay Kumar’s question, Nitish Kumar said, ” Kya ho gaya hai tumhe? Tum Toh Sharabbandi ke Paksh me the na? (Now what happened to you? You were in favor of liquor ban?).”
Former Bihar minister and RJD MLA Sudhakar Singh also opposed the liquor ban. He said, “Imposing a ban on any edible item or beverage is mental bankruptcy.”
“You can’t impose a ban. Through awareness and counseling you should make people understand that consumption of liquor is injurious to health,” ANI quoted Sudhakar Singh as saying.
