We all struggle with multiple passwords that we have to remember these days.
What do you think is the most commonly used password in India. Take a guess. No, it’s not 12345.
It is “password”. Yes, Password is the most commonly used password in India, according to an analysis by global password manager NordPass.
And you were not totally off the mark. 12345 is the second most commonly used password in the country.
The other commonly used passwords are 123456, 123456789, 12345678, india123, 1234567890, 1234567, qwerty and abc123.
And what’s common in all these is that they can be cracked very easily, according to NordPass.

So India immediately needs to get a bit creative with its passwords.
“It’s important to understand that passwords are the gateway to our digital lives, and with us spending more and more time online, it’s becoming enormously important to take better care of our cybersecurity,” said NordPass CEO Jonas Karklys in a statement.
“Unfortunately, passwords keep getting weaker, and people still don’t maintain proper password hygiene,” he said.
