On November 15, MrBeast became the most subscribed YouTuber after overtaking PewDiePie. Dexerto was the first website to reveal the news of him having over 111 million subscribers.

“Over the last few years, Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson has become one of the fastest-rising YouTubers on the Google-owned platform having blown through his goal of 100 million subs back in July. Now, he has secured his spot as the site’s most subscribed content creator, overtaking long-time Swedish creator PewDiePie,” stated the website.

As per Forbes, MrBeast, the highest-paid content creator on YouTube is a Kansas resident making about $5 million every month. While he joined YouTube in 2012, he began gaining popularity in 2018 after giving away thousands of dollars to small YouTubers and Twitch streamers. His stunts and games have kept him in the limelight. Last year, he capitalized on Netflix’s Squid Game by launching his version. In June, he held a Willy Wonka & the chocolate factory inspired contest and gave away $500,000. Additionally, he also spent hours building the world’s largest Lego tower, being burried alive, and also offered $10,000 to a person who is willing to sit in a bathtub full of snakes.

MrBeast’s 2018 video titled ‘How I Gave Away $1,000,000’ explains how he gained the wealth. He reveals that brands gave him great deals when he started making it big. Additionally, as per a Forbes report, he has his app, allowing his followers to purchase MrBeast branded meals from restaurants in the US. As he manages the marketing, he gets the profits from the restaurants. He also teams up with other YouTubers to raise money. 

“I appreciate every single one of you that watches the videos. This is all I’ve ever done with my life. All I do is wake up every day and obsess over how to make the best videos possible. It’s all I care about. It’s the only thing that’s ever really made me happy,” stated Donaldson in a video. 

“There’s probably no other YouTuber in the world who understands it as well as MrBeast. Making an entertaining video is one thing, but ensuring that every single second of a video keeps the viewer hooked is very difficult to pull off, and MrBeast’s retention – the percent of the video the average viewer watches – and view counts speak for themselves. MrBeast is playing the game of making the most entertaining videos that appeal to the biggest number of people, and he’s consistently knocking it out of the park,” stated Steven Bridges, another YouTuber. “I don’t think there’s any YouTuber out there that’s surprised MrBeast has taken the number one spot,” he added.
