25 Years Of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa: A Look At How The Show Marked Its Silver Jubilee From Home

Coronavirus has paused our lives, but it can’t break the spirit of our nation. One show that binds India together is the reality TV show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. The musical universe of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa recently completed 25 years. To celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, a trilogy of programmes was organised throughout the month of May.

#SocialForGood

Since it all began on May 1, 1995, the curtain raiser took place on Facebook Live under the hashtag #SocialForGood. This grand two-and-a half hour show had performances by several Sa Re Ga Ma Pa artists. The best part of the celebrations was the donation by celebs and the audience for helping the needy, all of which went to the PM Cares Fund.

Live-A-Thon

The celebration didn’t stop here. On May 16, there was a pre-build digital concert, Live-a-Thon. The 25 live hours of the concert consisted of more than 350 performance by several performances by artists in 10 national languages. With an inter-cut of anchors, and conversation with singers and celebrities, the event looked like a live concert. The evening was hosted by renowned Joy Sarkar, and performers like Gaurab, Doyel, Gurujeet, Trisha, Piu, Suvosree, and many others. Apart from giving out breathtaking performance, the anchor and artists insisted on making monetary contributions to the cause as well. You can catch the Live-a-Thon on Facebook Live from 9 am on the 23rd of May, with the Zee Punjabi slot coming up at 3.30 on May 24.

Pan-India TV Concert

Three hours of music on May 17 were hosted by our beloved Dada Sourav Ganguly. The evening had great music by performers like Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, and Shreya Ghoshal. A new Sa Re Ga Ma Pa anthem was sung by top singers from all regions. The artists even stood in solidarity with the globe by releasing a COVID anthem. Last but not the least, the event took us on a ride through the 25 glorious years of its run. You can catch this mega-concert on Zee TV at 6 pm on May 24!

Team Sa Re Ga Ma Pa turned the ‘Work From Home’ policy into complete entertainment. All of these events happened with the sheer dedication of entertaining and motivating the audience. Each and every performance was recorded on phone in the houses of the artists. It was brought together in post-production in a single narrative with anchor links, celeb interaction, and some old footage of the show. This unique effort was undertaken to give you the feeling of a live show worthy of the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa brand.
