Bollywood Throwback: When Rohit Shetty Embarrassed A Reporter Over A Question

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty is known for his extravagant action movies. The director who has a series of big-budget hits under his belt is currently one of the top directors in the country. Renowned for his cop films, Rohit Shetty came with his third cop movie in 2018 with Simmba. During the trailer launch, the action director also had some banter with a reporter and embarrassed the latter over questioning his salary.

In 2018, Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan unveiled the first trailer for Simmba. The event also had Rohit Shetty and producer Karan Johar. During the media interaction, Rohit Shetty was caught off guard as the reporter asked how much they had spent on the movie. The filmmaker who showcased his quick wit instantly fired right back at the reporter and asked what his salary was leaving everyone in the room surprised.

He quickly cleared that asking someone’s salary is not a nice act and he would never say it on camera. The reporter who had refused to say his salary was embarrassed by the response. Producer Karan Johar, who was surprised by the question fell silent and just nodded in response. Actors Ranveer Singh, Sara Ali Khan and Sonu Sood were also present at the trailer launch. The event was a huge success and the movie was a box-office hit.

Rohit Shetty film’s trailer launches are known for some spicy drama. Earlier last year, the director was present at the trailer launch of his upcoming action film Sooryavanshi. That time, the film’s star Akshay Kumar led the on-stage drama as he caught and scolded the Simmba actor Ranveer Singh for coming late for the event. As punishment, he was made to do sit-ups on stage.

Sooryavanshi is the fourth film in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe. It features Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead while Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh will be seen having cameos in it. While Ajay Devgn will portray his iconic character Bajirao Singham, Ranveer Singh will be seen playing the character of Sangram aka Simmba Bhalerao.
