Pookalam Varavayi: Why is Abhi unable to express his love for Samyuktha?

In Pookalam Varavayi, Abhi has been trying to express his feelings towards Samyuktha for a long time now. However, every time he attempts to do so, he ends up hurting her instead. And it’s even worse when she’s the one making advances at him. During all these scenes, we’ve seen what goes on inside Abhi’s heart and mind, but he never seems to be able to express himself, and we might know why.

Abhi’s misogynistic mindset in the past

In the recent episodes of Pookalam Varavayi, we saw a confused, hopeless Abhi being confronted by his alter ego. Abhi’s alter ego seems to be much more easygoing, frank, and open to love; and these qualities are what are somewhere lacking in Abhi right now. This could be due to his earlier hatred towards women.

At the start of the show, Abhi was shown as a misogynistic person. He had a deep-rooted hatred towards women and always looked down upon them. It’s Samyuktha who changed Abhi altogether.  But even then, Abhi isn’t completely able to accept this fact. And maybe that’s why he’s unable to express himself in front of her, giving rise to his alter ego, who always gives him great advice in matters of the heart.

Lack of women in his life

Because of his dislike towards women, he didn’t have many of them around him. The only woman he knows and loves is Sharmila. And we all know what a manipulative woman she is. There’s no wonder Abhi doesn’t know how to behave around a woman he loves.

Past equation with Samyuktha

Abhi has had a very rocky journey with Samyuktha. The both of them were at loggerheads ever since the day they met. Right from that accident, to even today, the couple never stops arguing. Although Samyuktha has already expressed her feelings and keeps doing so occasionally, maybe this previous equation is holding Abhi back.

Abhi has also never been in love. Maybe he also has a fear of rejection. He knows what a strong-headed woman Samyuktha is. Although he trusts her, maybe he’s still afraid of something going bad and messing this up. Maybe that’s why he isn’t taking the next step.
