Dwayne Johnson will not play Santa Claus in Amazon’s ‘Red One’
HollywoodDwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions colleague Hiram Garcia has confirmed that The Rock would not be playing Santa in his holiday picture ‘Red One.’
Dwayne Johnson and Jake Kasdan are on their way to producing another masterpiece, this time based on a unique Christmas theme. The rumor was that Dwayne will be seen as Santa in it but his Seven Bucks Productions colleague Hiram Garcia has confirmed that The Rock would not be playing Santa in his holiday picture ‘Red One.’
According to femalefirst.co.uk, the ‘Jumanji’ actor is appearing in a Christmas film for Amazon Studios, but his Seven Bucks Productions colleague Hiram Garcia has stated that Dwayne will not be wearing a red costume.
‘It’s hilarious, he’s not portraying Santa,’ Garcia told Slash Film. ‘Everyone thinks he’s playing Santa, but he’s actually doing something pretty amazing.’ ‘We’re absolutely looking forward to it. It’s the film we plan to shoot next year. We’re ecstatic to have Jake Kasdan directing it because he’s a master of that area and the tone we’re going for’ he added.
Garcia went on to say that the new film will ‘flip the festive genre on its head’ and offer audiences something radically unexpected. ‘It’s like ‘Hobbs and Shaw’ meets ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ meets ‘Miracle on 34th Street,” he explained. It’ll take traditional Christmas mythology and turn it inside out. It’s difficult to find another Christmas film that even comes close to matching it.
‘I don’t believe something like this has ever been done in that location, which is always quite intriguing to us.’ Hiram Garcia continued: ‘We’re extremely thrilled about it, Amazon has been amazing about it, and we’re in the midst of writing the screenplay, which will be shot next year. Our objective is to have it completed by December 2023, if all goes well.’

About the film, the plot is being kept under wraps, but Amazon describes Red One as ‘a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.” The film is scheduled to begin production in 2022, with a Christmas release in 2023.
