বিনোদনLuka Chuppi, Mimi, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari and Helmet writer Rohan Shankar speaks up about how Indian cinema should take up more of Indian literature. it’s high time to explore now in terms of film making
Screenplay writer Rohan Shankar has been in the industry for a while now. He has penned down scripts like Luka Chuppi, Mimi, Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari and recently released Helmet. According to Rohan there has been a huge enormous change in the industry in the last two years and the change is for good.
He says, “The whole scenario in the writing game has changed. With people getting too acquainted with the OTT platforms and with the variety of projects available there from all around the world, there has been a change in the tastes of consumers in choosing content. Now with the availability of projects like Money Heist, Dark, Peaky Blinders, etc from various countries all around the world, people have become focused on watching content driven projects. They just don’t want to watch anything and everything. They are accepting every genre but it should be justified in terms of the writing and presentation. Now if you present a story without a head or a tail, they will just skip it.“
Further he adds, “I believe it’s high time to explore Indian Literature now in terms of film making. Because there is so much to be explored in those literary forms. There are many books with amazing stories yet to be explored. And if people start exploring it then in no time, we would be soon ahead of everyone. And India is a country with diversities, so you can find numerous stories everywhere.”
Lastly on being asked about how Helmet has been received by the audience Rohan says, “It has done wonders and no film anywhere in the world have been made around a subject like the same. People are just loving the film and giving their amazing feedback. All the actors be it Pranutan, Aparskhati, Abhishek, everyone has justified their roles. So yes, I am happy that I contributed to the success of the film. I also believe that after seeing this more and more people would be able to openly talk about condoms and understand its importance in population control.“
