Is Samantha ready to take the plunge and expose the orthodox Tamil culture in ‘The Arrangements Of Love’

While fans of Samantha and she herself are elated over the news that she is debuting with the Hollywood flick, ’The Arrangements Of Love’, and will become a global icon with her acting prowess, there is a daring question that whether a majority of the Tamil people will accept their superstar in a role of a bisexual.
There is no denying that the film is an adaptation of the 2004 novel, wherein the storyline revolves around an Indian-origin boy who comes to India in search of his biological dad, and in the process of hunting down his father, he hires a local Tamilian girl named Apu, who is a detective and finally traces his original dad. The twist in the story is when the father rejects his son, and it’s the institution of marriage where Tamil orthodox culture is taken up for a toss, taking a dig at the same, that Samantha might need to ponder about.
Will Samantha playing a bisexual, appeal to the masses, is the big question, along with the Tamil culture being exposed, and the marriages becoming a centre of focus. Samantha is a divorcee and even that did not go down too well with many fans of both the actors, Chaitanya as well as Samantha herself in October, when news spread of their divorce. It is said that Chitanya had not allowed Samantha to do revealing roles, so playing the Tamil marriage card, may just about be upsetting for her fans. She had done the role of Raji in the Manoj Bajpayee thriller ‘Family Man 2’ who was an LTTE terrorist, which had got a section of the masses, especially the Tamilians, really upset, then.
The big question is, is Samantha going west just for the fame or is she going to carry the rich legacy of the Southern State, and get the script right, before putting her foot forward. Philip John, the BAFTA-winning Welsh director, will be taking the film forward.
