KRMKB: Samaira Trying To Win Over Roli Reminds Us Of Kareena Kapoor From We Are Family

Shrudi Shyam . Apr 06, 2021 .

Samira is trying to win over Roli much like Shreya from We Are Family did, but that’s not the only similarity between these two stories. Read on to find out more.

Kyun Rishton Mein Katti Batti has taken an unexpected turn. In a shocking turn of events, we saw Rishi getting slapped by Kuldeep which made Shubhra leave the house and take him with her to Pune. While Rishi got an escape, Roli is still stuck in the house with Samaira. And surprisingly, Samaira is suddenly trying to win over Roli in an attempt to secure her place in Kuldeep’s life. This reminded us of Shreya’s situation in the 2010 film We Are Family. Let’s check out some parallels between the two stories.

Check out what’s happening on Kyun Rishton Mein Katti Batti here:

Plot Of The Two Stories

‘We Are A Family’ starring Kajol, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Rampal is an official remake of the 1998 American drama, ‘Stepmom’. It focuses on the life of Maya (Kajol), Aman (Arjun), their children Aaliya, Ankush, and Anjali, and how their life changes post the entry of Aman’s girlfriend Shreya (Kareena). Although Maya and Aman have been divorced for a while, the new woman’s entry stirs up a lot of chaos. Shreya tries to befriend the kids while they hate her thinking she’d take away their dad.

On the other hand, Kyun Rishton Mein Katti Batti is a clear case of an extramarital affair. Kuldeep (Siddhaanth Vir Surryavanshi) and Shubhra (Neha Marda) were happily married when Samaira (Sapna Thakur) entered their lives. It not only destroyed Shubhra’s married but also her kids Rishi-Roli’s happiness. Similar to We Are Family, even the kids in this story hate the other woman.

Raavan Aunty v/s Daayan(Wicked Witch)

The kids in both stories saw the new woman in their life as a threat to their happiness. And kids being kids, they related her to a wicked character in the folklores. While Rishi and Roli call Samaira Raavan aunty, Aaliya, Ankush, and Anjali call Shreya ‘D’ an abbreviation for Daayan aka the wicked witch.

Samaira v/s Shreya

Samaira and Shreya are both career-oriented, ambitious women. And that’s where the similarities end. Although Samaira definitely deserves her title of ‘Raavan aunty’, the same can’t be said about Shreya. Firstly, she wasn’t breaking someone’s home, Aman and Maya were divorced, unlike Shubhra and Kuldeep. Secondly, Shreya truly loves the kids. Whereas, Samaira’s only aim is to secure her position in Kuldeep’s life and be with him forever, kids or no kids.

Winning Over The Kids

In Kyun Rishton Mein Katti Batti, after getting Shubhra to leave the house, Samaira is trying her best to win over Roli. Although, Roli knows that the reason behind the rift between her mom-dad is Samaira, and would probably never like her. She even refused to eat her favourite food when Samaira got it for her. Whereas in We Are A Family we see the children slowly warming up to Shreya and liking her. Although that’s only because Shreya was truly trying her best to befriend them without any malicious agenda.

Shubhra and Maya’s Situation

Shubhra and Maya’s situation cannot even be compared. Firstly, Maya was divorced. Secondly, Maya was dying of cancer and she herself wanted Shreya to take care of her kids and be a mother-figure in their life. Whereas Shubhra is fit and fine, and would never want her husband or kids to go away from her.
