On Friday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their second child, a baby girl. Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle announced the good news via a statement. The couple has named their baby daughter, Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, which is a homage to both, Harry’s mother Princess Diana and grandmother Queen Elizabeth. Expressing their joy, Harry and Meghan said that Lili is “more than we could have ever imagined”. Also, the duo thanked everyone for their love and prayers.
Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born on Friday at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California. “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe,” Harry and Meghan said in their statement. Also, the press secretary shared that both mother and baby are healthy and are back home.
Lilibet, the first name of Harry and Meghan’s daughter is affectionately inspired by Queen Elizabeth’s nickname. On the other hand, her second name Diana is an honour to Harry’s late mother Princess Diana. Earlier this year, Harry and Meghan grabbed everyone’s attention due to their “explosive” interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The couple had opened up on the “painful discussions’ about the colour of their first child’s skin, losing royal protection, etc. Also, Meghan talked about the pressures that led her to contemplate “suicide”.
Furthermore, in their conversation with Oprah, the duo had revealed that they were expecting a baby girl. The couple had further shared that they won’t be having any more children ahead. Meghan and Harry are already blessed with a son, Archi Harrison, who is two now.
