Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan‘s blockbuster movie titled Karan Arjun remains iconic even today, thanks to the two stars’ indelible on-screen performances. On Wednesday, the movie clocked 26 years and many took to Twitter to reminisce some evergreen moments from the film. Veteran actress Rakhee Gulzar’s character also remains etched in the hearts of the audience and her dialogue ‘Mere Karan Arjun Aayenge, Mere Bete Aayenge’ is indeed remembered even today. Rakhee played the role of Durga Singh, Karan-Arjun’s mother in the movie. Well, it’s been over 2 decades and if you’re wondering where the 73-year-old actress is now, then read on to know. After working in several movies like Bemisal, Kabhi Kabhie, Jeevan Mrityu, Reshma Aur Shera and others, Rakhee shot to fame. Her notable work is in films like Baazigar, Border, Soldier, Shubho Mahurat, Dil Ka Rishta, and so on. She has been away from celluloid for quite some time now and has been residing in her farmhouse in Panvel. The actress loves planting and reportedly her farmhouse also has many animals. Not only this, but she also grows vegetables out there. Her daughter, Meghna Gulzar, who has helmed critically acclaimed movies like Talvar, Raazi, and others, has also mentioned that Rakhee loves to stay in her farmhouse as she is very attached to the fields and animals there. More so, Meghna added that her actress-mother feels suffocated in the busy city of Mumbai.
Speaking about Karan Arjun, the movie is directed by Rakesh Roshan, and this outing brought Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan for the first time on-screen together. Apart from the trio, the movie also starred Mamta Kulkarni, Kajol, late actor Amrish Puri, among others. Karan Arjun follows the story of two brothers who get killed by their uncle for property dispute. However, they return to take revenge after 25 years and cuddle in the arms of their old mother who had the utmost faith in her sons’ return. The songs from the movie titled Yeh Bandhan Toh and Jaati Hoon Main hit the bullseye.
