Shiv Sena legislator Sanjay Raut will reach the Ghazipur border today at 1pm to lend his support to the ongoing farmer agitation against the three centre-imposed agrarian bills. With this, he joins the list of several other opposition parties including the Congress who have campaigned against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in this much politicised fight.
While addressing media persons on Tuesday, Raut said that he is visiting the protest site on instructions from Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray who has stood in solidarity with the disgruntled community right from inception.
Earlier this month when the Maharashtra farmers led a demonstration at the Azad Maidan in Mumbai, no prominent leader from the regional party was seen at the venue. Though Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar visited the iconic ground and even gave a speech, the Maharashtra CM later justified his absence citing COVID protocols as the reason to not be a part of large gatherings.
