Song Review: MumBhai’s ‘Imported Sharab’ Brings Back the Nostalgia of 90s Item Songs and Thrilling Police-Gangster Chase

Vaishnavi Navalkar . Dec 08, 2020 .

Here’s a review of the grooviest song from the series MumBhai featuring Angad Bedi and Rama Shetty

Directed by Akshay Choubey, MumBhai stars actors Sikandar Kher, Sandeepa Dhar, Angad Bedi, Madhurima Roy and Sameer Dharmadhikari in the lead roles. The ZEE5 original action crime drama series is set in the 1990s when Mumbai was ruled by the underworld. A cop named Bhasker Shetty rises to power to clean the city but eventually joins hands with Don Rama. The sensational song “Imported Sharab” depicts the instance when Bhaskar Shetty met Rama Shetty for the first time in a bar.

Watch the song “Imported Sharab” here:

The song Imported Sharab is a quirky song that will make one groove right away. It has the right tunes and the right music to lift up one’s mood. Moreover, the series MumBhai is set in the 90s, the time when dance bars and gangsters were a thing and the city feared them. The song fits right in the series and traces back to the time when gangsters and dons chasing each other was at a peak. The item number is sung in the soothing voice of Yashika Sikka, Sangeet Haldipur and Siddharth Haldipur. The music for Imported Sharaab is also composed by the duo Sangeet & Siddharth Haldipur. The lyrics of the song are written by Rashmin Dighe.

Angad Bedi is seen as a quirky encounter specialist in the series MumBhai. His character is intelligent and quirky, yet he fails to keep his feet firm on the ground. Back from the 1970s to the early 2000s, Bhaskar Shetty gained popularity for ridding the city of a majority of the gang violence that ran in the city. Sikander Kher played the role of the gangster in the series. He was seen as a feared criminal in the show and did equal justice to the gangster with his dialogues and appearance. These two protagonists were seen as brothers in the series who eventually play games behind each other’s backs.
