This is what Manchu Vishnu said in support of Samantha’s recent case

As per recent developments the newly elected president of MAA (Movie Artists Association), Manchu Vishnu has been taking many decisions for the betterment of working conditions of the artists of Telugu film industry and his special focus is on the female artists.

While attending the Telugu Film Critics Association honors event Vishnu addressed the media and spoke about the mistreatment of female actors by certain YouTube channels. As it is known to all that actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who is under the media radar because of her divorce, has recently filed a defamation case against various Youtube channels that posted malicious content about her and her divorce.  

In the light of these incidents Vishnu spoke about the wrong and malicious behaviour of the YouTube channels and said that such behaviour will no longer be tolerated and that such channels will have to face strict legal actions that will be taken against them. He went on to say that the obscene behaviour and the outrageous thumb nails used by the YouTube channels needs to stop and there will be consequences if they don’t do so.

The recently elected President further went on to say that the MAA will set up a legal cell to look into these particular matters and said “We establish a legal cell and will certainly take legal action on yellow journalists. MAA wouldn’t spare the Youtube channels that do nasty things to increase their viewership.”

The MAA recently set up the Women Empowerment and Grievance Cell or WEGC that is set up on the lines of the Vishakha guidelines given by the Supreme Court for addressing the issues of women in the film industry. Vishnu took to Twitter on Friday to share the news and mentioned that Ms. Sunita Krishnan, Padma Shri Awardee, will act as the honorary Advisor for this committee. He further went on to mention that the committee will consist of 4 women and 2 men.

The addressing of such sensitive issues by MAA is a welcome step in the direction of women safety and women empowerment in the Telugu film industry.
